1. Product Overview

The Savetek Mini USB Pen Clip Voice Activated Digital Audio Voice Recorder is a compact and versatile device designed for high-quality audio recording. Featuring a discreet pen clip design and voice-activated recording, it's ideal for meetings, lectures, and personal notes. It also functions as an MP3 player and offers easy file management.

2. Setup

2.1 Package Contents

Please check the package for the following items:

2.2 Charging the Device

  1. Connect the recorder to a computer's USB port or a USB wall adapter using the provided USB Data Cable.
  2. The 0.96 colorful LCD display will indicate charging status.
  3. A full charge typically takes a few hours and provides approximately 10 hours of battery life.

2.3 Power On/Off

  • To power on, slide the 'ON/OFF' switch to the 'ON' position.
  • To power off, slide the 'ON/OFF' switch to the 'OFF' position.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 One-Button Recording

  • To start recording, simply slide the 'ON/OFF' switch to the 'ON' position. The device will automatically begin recording.
  • To save the recording and stop, slide the 'ON/OFF' switch to the 'OFF' position.
  • Recordings are saved in WAV format at 1536kbps for high-definition audio quality.

3.2 Voice Activated Recording (VAR)

The recorder features Voice Activated Recording, which automatically starts recording when sound is detected and pauses when there is silence, conserving memory and battery life.

  • When the sound level reaches approximately 100dB, recording will start.
  • When the sound level drops below approximately 60dB, recording will pause.
  • Refer to the device's display for 'DENOISE REC' indicator.

3.3 Playback

  1. Connect the provided earphones to the recorder's earphone jack.
  2. Use the inline remote control on the earphone cable to navigate through recordings and control playback (play, pause, volume).
  3. The device supports WAV playback formats.

3.4 File Transfer and Management

  • To Computer: Connect the recorder to your PC using the USB Data Cable. The device will appear as a removable drive, allowing you to drag and drop audio files.
  • To Android Phone: Use the Micro USB OTG cable to connect the recorder to a compatible Android smartphone. This allows for direct file transfer and management on your mobile device.

3.5 Other Features

  • Recording Segmentation: The device may automatically segment long recordings into smaller files for easier management.
  • Time Stamp: Recordings are typically stamped with the date and time, helping you organize your audio files.
  • MP3 Player: The device can also function as an MP3 player. Transfer MP3 files to the device and use the earphones for playback.

4. Maintenance

  • Keep the device dry and away from moisture.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures.
  • Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • Store the device in a safe place to prevent physical damage.
  • Charge the battery regularly, even if not in use, to maintain battery health.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Device Not Turning On

  • Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a power source and try again.
  • Check the ON/OFF switch is fully in the 'ON' position.

5.2 No Recording or Poor Quality Recording

  • Check if the device has sufficient storage space. Transfer files to a computer if memory is full.
  • Ensure the device is placed in an optimal position for sound capture.
  • If using Voice Activated Recording, ensure the sound level is above the activation threshold.

5.3 Cannot Connect to Computer/Phone

  • Ensure the USB cable (or OTG cable for phone) is securely connected to both the recorder and the computer/phone.
  • Try a different USB port or cable.
  • For computer connection, ensure your operating system recognizes new USB devices.
  • For Android phones, ensure OTG functionality is enabled and supported by your phone.
