5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
Both the Transmitter and Receiver units require a 9V 6F22 battery (not included). To install:
- Ensure both units are powered OFF.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of each unit.
- Carefully open the battery cover.
- Insert a new 9V 6F22 battery, observing the correct polarity.
- Close the battery cover securely.

Figure 8: Battery Compartment location.
5.2 Initial Power On
After battery installation, turn on the power switch on both the Transmitter and Receiver units. The power indicators should light up, confirming they are ready for operation.
6. Operating Instructions
The HT800A/B offers multiple functions for network and telephone cable testing. Select the appropriate mode using the function selection switch on the Transmitter.
6.1 Wire Finding Tests (Cable Tracing)
This function helps quickly locate specific cables in cluttered environments.
- Connect the cable to be traced to the RJ45 or RJ11 port on the Transmitter.
- Turn on the Transmitter and select the "SCAN" mode.
- Turn on the Receiver and activate its "SCAN" mode.
- Adjust the Sensitivity Adjustment Knob on the Receiver to an appropriate level.
- Move the Receiver's inductive probe along the suspected cable path. A "drip" sound or visual indication on the Receiver will help identify the target cable.

Figure 9: Rapid and Precise Cable Tracing in action.
6.2 Cable Pairing (Line Sequence Test)
This mode checks the wire sequence, identifying short circuits, open circuits, and cross-overs in network cables.
- Connect one end of the network cable to the RJ45 port on the Transmitter and the other end to the RJ45 port on the Receiver.
- Turn on both units.
- The Line Sequence Indicator Lights (1-8, G) on both units will illuminate in sequence, indicating the wiring order.
- Observe the pattern of lights to identify any wiring faults (e.g., a light not illuminating indicates an open circuit, incorrect sequence indicates a cross-over).

Figure 10: Line Finding/Line Pairing Dual Mode for efficient cable sequence testing.
6.3 Ethernet Plug Crimp Check
This function helps detect faults in the network plug and cable connections, specifically related to crimping quality.
- Connect the network cable to the RJ45 port on the Transmitter.
- Observe the VFL (Wire Pressing Indicator Light) and Line Sequence Indicator Lights.
- A fault in the crimp will be indicated by an abnormal light pattern or the VFL light not illuminating correctly for a specific line.

Figure 11: Ethernet Plug Crimp Check for detecting connection faults.
6.4 POE Power Supply Test
Use this function to determine if Ethernet cables are providing Power over Ethernet (POE) to powered devices like IP cameras or wireless access points.
- Connect the network cable to the RJ45 port on the Transmitter.
- The POE Voltage Indicator Light will illuminate if POE power is detected.
- The device supports operation up to 60V.

Figure 12: Live POE-Powered Cable Tracing.
6.5 NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Measurement
The NCV function allows for quick and safe detection of energized cables without direct contact.
- Turn on the Receiver unit.
- Press the "NCV" button.
- Bring the inductive probe of the Receiver close to the cable. If the cable is energized, the NCV indicator light will illuminate, and an audible alert may sound.

Figure 13: NCV Non-Contact Measurement for safety.
6.6 Telephone Line Status Measurement (HT800A only)
For HT800A models, this function can identify the polarity, standby status, and ringing status of telephone lines.
- Connect the telephone line to the RJ11 port on the HT800AT Transmitter.
- Select the appropriate telephone line test mode (if available via SEL button).
- The device will indicate the line status, such as polarity, whether the line is idle (standby), or if it's ringing (off-hook).

Figure 14: Telephone Line Status Measurement (HT800A only).
6.7 Cable Breakpoint Localization
This feature helps pinpoint breaks, shorts, or damage within cables.
- Connect the cable to the Transmitter and activate the wire finding mode.
- Move the Receiver's inductive probe along the cable.
- A continuous "drip" sound indicates a normal connection. If the sound stops abruptly, it signifies a break or disconnection at that point.

Figure 15: Cable Breakpoint Localization process.
6.8 Lighting Function
The Receiver is equipped with an LED light for operation in dark environments. Press the Lighting Switch on the Receiver to turn it ON/OFF.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low voltage alert is triggered or when the device performance degrades. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 5.1.
- Interface Durability: The RJ45 and RJ11 interface contacts are designed to be oxidation-resistant, ensuring long-lasting performance even with repeated plugging and unplugging.

8. Troubleshooting
- Device not powering on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- No signal during wire tracing:
- Ensure the cable is properly connected to the Transmitter.
- Adjust the Sensitivity Adjustment Knob on the Receiver.
- Verify both units are in "SCAN" mode.
- Check if the cable is energized (use NCV function) if it's a live circuit.
- Inaccurate cable pairing results:
- Ensure both ends of the cable are securely connected to the Transmitter and Receiver.
- Inspect the cable for visible damage or poor crimps.
- NCV not detecting voltage: Ensure the NCV button is pressed and the probe is close enough to the energized cable.
