5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation (Doorbell Host)
- Locate the battery compartment on the back or side of the doorbell host.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert two (2) 18650 lithium batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
5.2 Chime Unit Setup
- Plug the Dingdong Machine (chime unit) into a standard AC100-240V EU wall socket within range of your doorbell.
5.3 App Pairing and Wi-Fi Connection
- Download the 'Tuya Smart' or 'Smart Life' app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
- Register or log in to your account.
- Power on the doorbell host. It should enter pairing mode (indicated by a flashing light, refer to app instructions for specific light patterns).
- In the app, tap '+' to add a new device. Select 'Video Surveillance' > 'Smart Doorbell' or use the auto-scan feature.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the doorbell to your 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi network. Ensure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup.
- Once connected, the doorbell's indicator light will change (e.g., solid blue), and the app will confirm successful pairing.
5.4 Physical Installation (Doorbell Host)
- Choose a suitable location near your entrance, ensuring good Wi-Fi signal strength.
- Mount the doorbell using the provided screws and mounting bracket (if included). Ensure it is securely fastened and positioned for optimal viewing angle.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Live View and Two-Way Intercom
- Open the Tuya Smart app and select your doorbell from the device list.
- Tap on the live view to see real-time video from your doorbell camera.
- To speak with a visitor, tap the microphone icon in the app. To hear the visitor, ensure your phone's volume is up.
6.2 Motion Detection and Alerts
- The doorbell is equipped with a motion sensor. When motion is detected, you will receive a push notification on your smartphone.
- You can adjust motion detection sensitivity and set detection zones within the app settings.
6.3 Night Vision
- The doorbell automatically switches to night vision mode in low-light conditions, providing clear video footage even in the dark.
6.4 Recording and Playback
- The doorbell supports video recording triggered by motion or doorbell presses.
- Recorded footage can be accessed and played back through the Tuya Smart app. Check app settings for cloud storage options or local storage (if an SD card slot is available).
6.5 Chime Operation
- When a visitor presses the doorbell button, the indoor chime unit will ring.

- Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure your Wi-Fi router is functioning correctly and the doorbell has a strong signal for reliable performance.
8. Troubleshooting
- Doorbell not powering on: Check if the 18650 batteries are inserted correctly and fully charged.
- Chime not ringing: Ensure the chime unit is plugged into a live EU socket and is within wireless range of the doorbell. Check app settings for chime pairing.
- Cannot connect to Wi-Fi:
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz or 5GHz compatible and your password is correct.
- Move the doorbell closer to your Wi-Fi router during setup.
- Restart your router and the doorbell, then try pairing again.
- Poor video quality:
- Check your Wi-Fi signal strength in the app; a weak signal can affect video quality.
- Clean the camera lens for any obstructions or smudges.
- Two-way intercom not working: Ensure your phone's microphone and speaker permissions are granted to the Tuya Smart app. Check doorbell and app volume settings.
- Motion detection not triggering: Adjust motion detection sensitivity in the app. Ensure the detection zone covers the desired area.
9. User Tips
- Optimal Wi-Fi Placement: For best performance, try to install the doorbell in a location with a strong and stable Wi-Fi signal. If your router is far, consider a Wi-Fi extender.
- Battery Management: Keep a spare set of charged 18650 batteries on hand to quickly swap them out when the doorbell's power runs low, minimizing downtime.
- App Notifications: Customize your notification settings in the Tuya Smart app to receive alerts that are most relevant to you, avoiding excessive notifications.
