4. Installation & Wiring

Important Safety Notice: Installation should only be performed by a qualified professional to ensure safety and compliance with local electrical codes. Always turn off power at the main circuit breaker before beginning any wiring work.

4.1. Installation Steps

  1. Carefully open the device display panel.
  2. Install expansion screws into the wall.

4.3. Placement Guidelines

Install the thermostat in a location where you can easily view the screen and adjust settings. Position it to represent the overall ambient temperature of the room. Avoid installing near cold or heat sources such as ventilation openings, heaters, outdoors, or in direct sunlight.

5. Setup: Network Connection

The Beok BOT-R15W-Zigbee thermostat requires a Zigbee wireless mesh network and a compatible smart gateway (e.g., Tuya Zigbee Bridge WLN-03-X, sold separately) for app control and smart home integration.

5.1. Thermostat Network Configuration

  1. Ensure the thermostat is powered on.
  2. Press and hold the 'O' key for 5 seconds.
  3. An icon will flash in the upper left corner of the screen, indicating that the thermostat has entered the network distribution state.

5.2. Smart Gateway Network Configuration (if not already set up)

  1. Power on your Smart Gateway.
  2. Press and hold the reset button on the gateway for 5 seconds.
  3. When the network connection indicator light on the gateway flashes, open the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' App on your mobile phone.
  4. Follow the in-app instructions to complete the network connection for the gateway.
  5. Once the network connection indicator light on the gateway is constantly on, the gateway has been successfully connected to the network. (If your gateway is already added to the app, you can skip this step).
  6. In the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' App, add the thermostat as a new device and follow the pairing instructions.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Button Functions

  • Power On/Off (O key): Press and hold the 'O' key to turn off the device and close all valves. Short press the 'O' key to turn on the device.
  • Mode Conversion (O key): In the power-on state, short press the 'O' key to switch between manual mode (M) and automatic mode (A).
  • Adjustment (V and A keys): In the power-on state, press the 'V' (down) or 'A' (up) key to adjust the set temperature and other parameters.

  • Leaving Home Mode: The default temperature for 'leaving home' mode is 16°C.
  • Frost Protection: This feature is only valid in Heating mode and helps prevent pipes from freezing by maintaining a minimum temperature (e.g., 5.0°C).
  • Temperature Hysteresis: Minimum ±0.5°C, which is the temperature difference between when the heating/cooling turns on and off.

7. Daily Programming

The network programming mode allows you to set different times and temperatures for each day, with up to 6 periods settable per day. This feature is operated via the 'Smart Life' or 'Tuya Smart' App. The standalone version of the thermostat does not have this programming function.

9. Maintenance

9.1. Battery Replacement

The thermostat is powered by 3 AAA alkaline batteries. When the low battery indicator is displayed on the screen, battery replacement is required.

  1. Use a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry open the back cover of the thermostat.
  2. Remove the old AAA batteries.
  3. Insert three new 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the back cover securely.
