6. Operating Instructions
The automatic air assist system is designed to be controlled via software, specifically using the M8 air assist switch in LightBurn.
- Software Control (LightBurn M8):
- The 32-bit main board is compatible with LightBurn software.
- For cutting operations, enable the M8 air assist switch in LightBurn. This will automatically turn on the air pump, providing airflow to prevent yellowing and improve cut quality.
- For engraving operations, disable the M8 air assist switch in LightBurn. This will automatically turn off the air pump, which is typically preferred for finer engraving details where air assist might cause blurring or excessive material removal.

- The air pump features a speed control design.
- You can adjust the airflow rate from 0-30L/min by rotating the regulator on the air pump unit.
- Adjust the airflow according to the specific material and desired engraving/cutting results.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your Air Assist Kit.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the air pump and air hose to prevent dust and debris buildup. Use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Connections: Regularly check all electrical and air hose connections to ensure they are secure and free from damage.
- Air Filter (if applicable): If your air pump model includes an air filter, inspect and clean or replace it as recommended by the manufacturer to maintain optimal airflow.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the kit in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Air Assist Kit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Air pump not turning on:
- Check if the power adapter is securely connected to the main board and a working power outlet.
- Ensure the main board's power switch (if present) is in the 'ON' position.
- Verify that the M8 air assist command is correctly enabled in your LightBurn software for the current operation.
- Inspect the wiring between the air pump and the main board for any loose or damaged connections.
- Weak or no airflow:
- Check the air hose for kinks, blockages, or leaks.
- Ensure the air pump's flow rate regulator is adjusted to an appropriate setting.
- Clean any potential blockages in the air nozzle on the laser module.
- If applicable, check and clean the air filter on the pump.
- Air assist not responding to LightBurn M8 command:
- Confirm that the 32-bit main board is correctly installed and recognized by your laser engraver's firmware.
- Ensure your LightBurn software is configured to send M8 commands for air assist control.
- Check for any firmware updates for your laser engraver that might affect air assist functionality.
9. User Tips
- For optimal cutting results, experiment with different air assist flow rates and laser power settings on various materials.
- When engraving delicate materials, consider turning off air assist or using a very low flow rate to avoid scattering fine debris or affecting detail.
- Regularly clean your laser lens and air nozzle, as air assist can sometimes push debris onto these components.
