1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the AVATTO Tuya WIFI Smart Garden Watering Timer. This device is designed to simplify your garden irrigation with smart control features, a large LCD display, and robust construction. Please read this manual carefully before use to ensure proper installation, operation, and maintenance.

Warm Tips

• For outdoor use only. Placing the timer in a sheltered outdoor location will prolong its lifetime.
• Do not use tools on the timer. Hand tighten only. Use of tools may damage the timer.
• Do not allow the timer to freeze. Freezing temperatures can permanently damage your timer.
• Keep the filter washer clean and in place when using the timer. Replace the filter if damaged. Debris entering the timer may prevent it from closing.
• For cold water outdoor irrigation use only.
• When the battery power is low, please replace the batteries to avoid interruption of normal operation. When replacing batteries, ensure the battery tray is dry.
• Severe electrical shock could result if water is sprayed into outlets or sources of electrical current. Never immerse the product in water.

5. Installation

5.1 Install The Batteries

1. Remove the battery compartment cover on the backside of the timer.
2. Insert 4 new AA (1.5V) alkaline batteries (not included).
3. Firmly reinstall the battery compartment cover back into the timer to ensure water resistance.

Note: Only new 1.5V AA alkaline batteries can be used. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable batteries.

5.2 Install The Timer

1. Turn off the garden faucet.
2. Screw the timer to the garden faucet and make the display as vertical as possible to the ground. While rotating, please follow the direction of the thread.
3. Screw the garden hose to the timer outlet.
4. The stainless steel filter has been built in. Use O-ring/adapter/quick connector/PTFE tape if necessary to ensure a watertight seal.
5. Please turn on the tap after programming the timer.

Note: Please do not use tools, only install the timer by hand.

5.3 Activate The Timer Before Use

Please activate the device before using it for the first time or after a period of inactivity:

1. Keep the faucet turned off.
2. Press and hold the Manual button for 3 seconds, and set the manual time. With a "click" sound, the valve inside the timer opens for manual watering. After a few seconds, press and hold Manual button for 3 seconds again, the "click" will sound again, and the valve will close.
3. Turn on the faucet a little bit, and hold the Manual button for 3 seconds to check if the water flows out or shuts off as expected. If yes, the valve is normal, please use it with confidence! If not, please repeat the above steps several times.
4. The test is over, everything is normal, please keep the faucet fully turned on!

Note: When testing, please keep away from the water outlet of the timer to avoid being splashed and wet. The valve may be protectively closed due to various factors; manual activation ensures it's ready for use.

6. APP Remote Control and Voice Control

The AVATTO Smart Water Timer can be controlled remotely via the Smart Life or Tuya app and integrated with voice assistants.

6.1 Software Installation

1. Download Smart Life App

Scan the QR code below or search for "Smart Life" on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) to download the Smart Life app.

2. Registration or Log in

• Enter the Register / Login interface.
• Select "Register" to create an account by entering your phone number for a verification code and setting a password.
• Choose "Log in" if you already have a Smart Life account.

3. Add Device

1. Press and hold the OK button for 3 seconds to enter OFF mode. While in OFF mode, press and hold the Manual button for 3 seconds to initiate the network configuration. The WiFi icon will start flashing.
2. Enter the "Home" interface of the APP, click "+" in the upper right corner, select the "Add" button in the pop-up window, and finally click to enter the Wi-Fi password interface.
3. Note: Please turn on the Bluetooth of your phone in advance.
4. Select your 2.4G Wi-Fi network and enter the password, click "Next", and then wait for the connection to succeed.
5. After the addition is successful, click "Done", and the Wi-Fi smart Water Timer has been added successfully.

7. Operating Instructions

Button Rules

• MINUS (-) button: Numbers decrease / Move backward.
• PLUS (+) button: Numbers increase / Move forward.
• SET button: Short press to switch between program setting items (start time / end time / water/pause); Press and hold for 3 seconds to enter / exit programing setting.
• OK button: Short press to confirm setting and navigate to the next setting; Press and hold for 3 seconds to enter / exit OFF mode.
• MANUAL button: Press and hold for 3 seconds to enter / exit manual mode; In OFF mode, press and hold for 3 seconds to initiate the network configuration.

Combined Button Functions:

• Simultaneously press and hold the MINUS and PLUS buttons for 3 seconds to activate / deactivate child lock.
• Simultaneously press and hold the SET and OK buttons for 3 seconds to activate / deactivate rain delay.

7.1 Time Setting

Note: After successful connection to the network, the timer will automatically synchronize with the time and day of the week on your phone. Upon completion of battery installation, the timer will automatically enter the setting for time and day of the week. Whenever you need to set the time manually, please remove and reinstall the battery compartment.

1. Press "+" or "-" button to select AM/PM and set the current hour and minutes, then press "OK" button to confirm. Press and hold the "+" or "-" button to quickly increase the value.
2. Press "+" or "-" button to switch the day of the week, then press "OK" button to confirm.
3. The default setting is 11:00 am on Friday.

7.2 Programs Setting

The device supports two timer schedules: Normal schedule and Cycle schedule. Once programs are set, the default display will show the next watering schedule. You can short press "+" or "-" button to toggle and view different programs.

Choose Normal or Cycle schedule

1. Press and hold "SET" button for 3 seconds; the timer will enter programming setting state. The NORMAL icon flashes first.
2. Press "+" or "-" button to switch between the NORMAL and CYCLE modes. Press the "OK" button to confirm and enter the specific setting.
3. The device supports up to 6 programs. Press "+" or "-" button to switch between programs, and press the "OK" button to confirm. Before entering the specific setting, press "+" or "-" button to toggle the ON and OFF for this program, then press the "OK" button to confirm. When a program is set to OFF, it will automatically return to the main display interface.

Note: Each time you set up a program, you can modify all existing programs or set up a new one. For example, if you have already set up P1 and P2, you can modify both P1 and P2 or set up a new P3.

Normal Schedule

You can set start time, end time, and water day in a normal schedule.

• To set start time and end time, press "+" or "-" button to select AM/PM and set the current hour and minutes. Then press "OK" button to confirm. Press and hold the "+" or "-" button to quickly increase the value.
• To set water day, when the day of the week icon flashes, press the "OK" button to enable/disable watering for that day. Press "+" or "-" button to switch between different days of the week.
• Short press SET button to switch between start time / end time / water day.
• Press and hold the SET button for 3 seconds, or leave the timer inactive for 10 seconds, to save the programming settings.

Note: The end time cannot be earlier than the start time, otherwise, the timer will show an ERO error. If no watering days are set, the watering program will run only once by default.

Cycle Schedule

You can set start time, end time, water duration, pause duration, and water day in a cycle schedule.

• To set start time, end time, and water day, please follow the same steps as described above for the normal schedule.
• During the programmed watering time, water & pause breaks watering down into multiple cycles to give the soil time to soak the water in for efficiency. To set the duration of water and pause, press "+" or "-" button to adjust the value, and confirm with "OK" button.

Note: The duration of water and pause cannot exceed the total duration of the program, and it cannot be set to 0. Otherwise, the timer will show an ER2 error.

7.3 Manual Watering

Manual watering allows you to water without interrupting your set schedule.

1. Press and hold Manual button for 3 seconds; the timer enters manual watering setting. The water value blinks. Press "+" or "-" button to adjust the manual time value by hours first, and then by minutes. Press OK button to confirm; the timer will start manual watering.
2. To exit manual watering, press and hold Manual button for 3 seconds again.
3. After the manual watering is over, the timer will return to its previous state.

7.4 Rain Delay

Rain delay allows you to postpone watering for 24/48/72 hours, and it will not interrupt your original schedule.

1. Press and hold SET + OK button for 3 seconds to enter rain delay setting. The delay value blinks. Press "+" or "-" button to toggle between 24, 48, and 72 hours of rain delay time. Press OK button to confirm; the timer will enter rain delay state.
2. To exit rain delay, press and hold SET + OK button for 3 seconds again.

7.5 OFF Mode

OFF mode allows you to stop the watering plan for an extended period.

1. Press and hold "OK" button for 3 seconds; the timer will enter OFF mode, and the screen will display the word "OFF". The timer will not water automatically while in OFF mode, and your settings are saved.
2. To exit OFF mode, press and hold "OK" button for 3 seconds again.

7.6 Child Lock

Press and hold "+" and "-" buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to activate / deactivate child lock.

7.7 Low Battery Reminder

When the battery power is less than 20%, the battery power icon will flicker. It is recommended to replace the new battery as soon as possible before use.

8. User Tips

• For optimal performance and longevity, consider installing the timer in a location that offers some shelter from direct, harsh sunlight, even though it is rated IP65 waterproof.
• Regularly check and clean the filter washer to prevent debris from clogging the timer and affecting its operation.
• When setting up programs, double-check that your end time is not earlier than your start time to avoid ERO errors.
• If you experience any issues with water flow, ensure the faucet is fully turned on after installation and activation.

9. Troubleshooting

Error Codes

Common Issues

• The LCD screen does not display anything when the batteries are installed.
  • Check if the 4 batteries loaded are new 1.5V AA alkaline batteries.
  • Check if the batteries are properly placed as per the mark of +/-.
• The hose tap connection/outlet leaks.
  • Check if the O-ring is connected correctly to the hose tap.
  • Check if the connection outlet or water pipe is broken.
  • Check if the faucet and water pipe have a different thread. If necessary, please use an appropriate adapter or PTFE tape.
• Water does not come out at preset time.
  • Check if the clock is set to the correct time.
  • Check if the start time is set to the desired time.
  • Check if Rain Delay is on.
  • Check if OFF mode is on.
  • Check if the batteries are low.
  • Check if the faucet is turned OFF.

10. Maintenance

• Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears. Ensure the battery compartment is dry before closing.
• Filter Cleaning: Regularly inspect and clean the built-in filter to prevent blockages. Replace if worn or damaged.
• Winter Storage: When expecting freezing temperatures, remove the timer from the hose faucet and store it indoors to avoid potential freeze damage.
• General Cleaning: Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.
