4. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before using the FOXSUR FBT-300 Battery Tester. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Always wear appropriate eye protection (safety goggles) when working near batteries.
- Ensure adequate ventilation in the work area to prevent the accumulation of explosive gases.
- Keep sparks, flames, and smoking materials away from batteries.
- Do NOT test lithium batteries with this device. It is designed exclusively for 12V-24V lead-acid batteries.
- Ensure the battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion for accurate readings and secure connections.
- Connect the red clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal and the black clamp to the negative (-) battery terminal. Reverse polarity connection is protected, but always ensure correct connection.
- Do not use extension cords for testing; connect the tester directly to the battery terminals.
- Avoid touching moving parts or hot surfaces during operation.
- Keep the device dry and clean. Do not expose it to rain or moisture.
5. Setup
- Unpack the Device: Carefully remove the FBT-300 Battery Tester and its clamps from the packaging.
- Inspect for Damage: Check the device, cables, and clamps for any signs of physical damage. Do not use if damaged.
- Prepare the Battery: Ensure the battery terminals are clean and free of dirt or corrosion. If necessary, clean them with a wire brush.
- Ensure Vehicle is Off: For in-vehicle testing, ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and all accessories are turned off.
6. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to perform a battery test:
- Connect the Clamps:
- Connect the red (+) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
- Connect the black (-) clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
- The tester will power on automatically from the battery.
- Select Battery Type: Use the navigation buttons (up/down arrows) to select the appropriate battery type (e.g., 'CAR' or 'MOTO') displayed on the LCD screen. Press 'ENTER' to confirm.
- Select Battery Capacity: Use the navigation buttons to input or select the battery's rated capacity (AH or CCA, depending on the test mode). Press 'ENTER' to confirm.
- Start Test: Once the type and capacity are selected, press the 'ENTER' button to initiate the test. The device will perform an 8-second fast detection.
- Read Results: The LCD screen will display the test results, including SOH, SOC, I.R., VOLT, EDC, and CCA values. Interpret the results based on the battery's specifications and the tester's indicators (e.g., 'GOOD', 'REPLACE', 'RECHARGE').
- Disconnect Clamps: After the test is complete, disconnect the black (-) clamp first, then the red (+) clamp.
Special Note for 24V Series Batteries:
For 24V series battery systems, it is not necessary to remove the series cable. The FBT-300 can directly test individual 12V batteries within the series. Simply clamp the tester onto the positive and negative poles of a single 12V battery in the series for detection. It is prohibited to test through an extension cord.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth after each use. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the FBT-300 in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect the test cables and clamps for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Replace if necessary.
- Avoid Moisture: Keep the device away from water and other liquids to prevent internal damage.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | Poor connection to battery terminals; Battery voltage too low (below 8V); Damaged cables/clamps. | Ensure clamps are securely connected to clean battery terminals. Check battery voltage with a multimeter. Inspect cables for damage. |
| Inaccurate or inconsistent readings. | Corroded battery terminals; Loose clamp connection; Battery not fully charged; Incorrect battery type/capacity selected. | Clean battery terminals. Re-secure clamps. Ensure battery is adequately charged. Verify selected battery type and capacity. |
| "Poor Contact" message displayed. | Clamps not making good contact with battery terminals. | Re-position clamps to ensure firm and clean contact with battery terminals. |
| Device displays an error code. | Internal fault or specific testing condition not met. | Disconnect and reconnect the tester. If the error persists, contact customer support. |
9. User Tips
- For the most accurate results, ensure the battery is fully charged before performing a test.
- Test the battery at room temperature whenever possible, as extreme temperatures can affect readings.
- Always double-check the selected battery type and capacity settings on the tester to match your battery's specifications.
- If testing a battery that has just been charged, allow it to rest for at least 30 minutes before testing to get stable readings.
