3. Operating Instructions

The MCGS HMI provides an intuitive touch interface for monitoring and controlling industrial processes. The specific functions and screens will depend on the application programmed into the HMI.

3.1. Basic Operation

Power on the device. The HMI will display the configured application interface. Interact with the screen by touching buttons, input fields, and graphical elements as designed by the system integrator.

3.2. Remote Monitoring and Control (IoT Functionality)

Certain MCGS HMI models support IoT functionality, allowing remote monitoring and control via a mobile application. This feature enables users to interact with the connected PLC from a smartphone or other compatible device.

Video 1: Demonstration of remote PLC monitoring and control using an MCGS HMI (Internet of Things screen) and a mobile phone. The video shows a user interacting with a virtual control panel on their phone, which in turn controls the output lights of a connected PLC, mirrored on the HMI screen.

To use remote monitoring:

  1. Ensure your HMI model has 4G or WiFi capabilities and is connected to the internet.
  2. Install the compatible mobile application (e.g., Gongbei Smart PLC app) on your smartphone.
  3. Configure the HMI and mobile app for remote access as per the software documentation.
  4. Use the mobile app to view the HMI interface and send commands to the connected PLC.

4. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your MCGS HMI, follow these general maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner to clean the touch screen and bezel. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive materials.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the HMI within its specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check for and install firmware updates from the manufacturer to ensure the latest features and security patches.
  • Cable Connections: Regularly inspect all power and communication cables for secure connections and signs of wear or damage.

5. Troubleshooting

This section provides basic troubleshooting steps for common issues. For more complex problems, please contact technical support.

  • No Power: Check the power supply connection and ensure it provides the correct 24V DC. Verify that the power source is active.
  • Screen Unresponsive: If the touch screen is unresponsive, try restarting the HMI. Ensure the screen is clean and free from obstructions.
  • Communication Errors: Verify all communication cables are correctly connected and not damaged. Check the communication settings (baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits) on both the HMI and the connected PLC/device. Refer to the wiring diagrams in Section 2.2.3.
  • Application Not Loading: Ensure the application file is correctly loaded onto the HMI. If issues persist, try reloading the application.
