4. Product Overview
The Hikvision DS-2CD1083G2-LIU is a robust bullet-style network camera designed for both indoor and outdoor surveillance. It integrates advanced features for reliable security monitoring.

5. Setup
5.1 Physical Installation
- Choose a Mounting Location: Select a location that provides the desired field of view and is within reach of power and network cables. Ensure the surface is strong enough to support the camera.
- Mounting the Camera: Use the provided mounting accessories to securely attach the camera to a wall or ceiling. Drill pilot holes if necessary.
- Adjust Angle: Loosen the adjustment screws to pan, tilt, and rotate the camera to the desired surveillance angle. Tighten the screws to secure the position.
5.2 Power and Network Connection
The camera supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) for simplified installation, allowing both power and data to be transmitted over a single Ethernet cable. Alternatively, it can be powered via a 12 VDC power adapter.
- Ethernet Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from your network switch (preferably PoE-enabled) to the camera's RJ45 port.
- Power Connection (if not using PoE): Connect a 12 VDC power adapter (not included) to the camera's power input. Ensure the power supply meets the camera's specifications (12 VDC ± 25%, 0.41 A, max. 5 W).
5.3 Initial Access and Configuration
After physical installation and connection, you can access and configure the camera via a web browser or client software.
- Find the Camera's IP Address: Use the Hikvision SADP tool or your network's DHCP server to find the camera's IP address.
- Access via Web Browser: Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome 57.0+, Firefox 52.0+, Edge 89+) and enter the camera's IP address. Follow the on-screen prompts to set up a strong password and configure basic settings.
- Client Software: For advanced management, install Hikvision's iVMS-4200 client software on your PC or Hik-Connect app on your mobile device (Android, iOS).
6. Operating Instructions

- User/Host Management: Supports up to 32 users with 3 levels: administrator, operator, and user.
- Protocols: Supports standard network protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP, RTSP, NTP, etc.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Regularly clean the camera lens and housing with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a mild detergent and a damp cloth, then wipe dry. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
7.2 Firmware Updates
Keep your camera's firmware updated to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features. Firmware updates are typically available on the Hikvision official website. Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update package carefully.
7.3 Storage
The camera supports on-board storage up to 512 GB via an SD card slot (SD card optional). Ensure the SD card is compatible and formatted correctly for reliable recording.
