1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the GIRIER Smart Dimmer Module. This device allows you to transform your traditional lighting into a smart system, offering stepless dimming, app control, voice control, and timing functions. It is available in both WiFi and ZigBee versions to suit your smart home ecosystem. This manual provides detailed instructions for installation, operation, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and safety.

2. Safety Information

• Always disconnect power at the circuit breaker before installing or servicing the device.
• Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical codes.
• Do not exceed the maximum load rating of 150W LED (0/1-10V 20mA).
• This device is designed for indoor use only.
• Ensure the operating temperature and humidity are within specified limits (-10℃ to 40℃, <90% RH).
• Only works with DC0-10V light drivers. Not for color-changing lights.
• A neutral wire is required for installation.

5. Setup and Installation

5.1. Pre-installation Checklist

• Ensure power is OFF at the circuit breaker.
• Confirm you have a neutral wire available in your switch box.
• For the ZigBee version, a Tuya ZigBee hub is required for smart features.
• Download the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app on your smartphone.

5.2. Wiring Diagram (WiFi Version)

Follow the wiring diagram carefully. A neutral wire (N) is required for the WiFi module.

5.4. Physical Installation

1. Turn off the main power at your circuit breaker.
2. Remove your existing light switch from the wall box.
3. Connect the wires to the dimmer module according to the appropriate wiring diagram (Figure 3 or Figure 4). Ensure all connections are secure.
4. Carefully place the dimmer module into the wall box. Its compact size allows for easy installation without replacing your original switch.
5. Reinstall your original light switch cover.
6. Restore power at the circuit breaker.

5.5. App Pairing

1. Download and open the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
2. Register or log in to your account.
3. For ZigBee version: Ensure your Tuya ZigBee hub is powered on and connected to your network.
4. In the app, tap '+' to add a new device.
5. Follow the in-app instructions to put the dimmer module into pairing mode (usually by pressing the physical switch multiple times or holding a button on the module).
6. The app will detect the device. Select it and complete the pairing process.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Stepless Dimming

• Via Physical Switch: Use your existing wall switch to turn the lights on/off. Depending on the switch type and configuration, you may also be able to adjust brightness.
• Via App: Open the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. Select your dimmer module. You will find controls to turn the light on/off and a slider for stepless brightness adjustment (0-100%).
• Last Status Memory: The module remembers the last brightness setting when powered off and restores it upon power restoration.

6.2. App Remote Control

Once paired, you can control your lights from anywhere using the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app on your smartphone. This includes turning lights on/off and adjusting brightness.

6.3. Voice Control

The dimmer module is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant. Link your Tuya Smart/Smart Life account to your voice assistant app. Then, use simple voice commands:

• "Alexa, turn on the living room light."
• "Hey Google, set the bedroom light to 50%."
• "Alexa, dim the kitchen light."

6.4. Timing Function

Set schedules within the app to automate your lighting:

• Schedule lights to turn on/off at specific times.
• Adjust brightness levels for different times of day (e.g., dim in the evening).
• Create an "inching timer" for short bursts of light.
• Sync lighting with sunrise/sunset.

6.5. Group Control

In the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app, you can create groups of multiple dimmer modules. This allows you to control several lights simultaneously with a single tap or voice command, simplifying control over entire rooms or areas.

6.6. Relay States Function

The module supports a Relay States Function, which determines the light's behavior after a power outage:

• Daily Mode: Returns to the last known state before the power failure.
• Light Off: Stays off after power is restored.
• Remember Last Status: Recalls the last brightness level before the power interruption.

7. Maintenance

• Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
• Do not use liquid cleaners or sprays.
• Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges.
• Regularly check for firmware updates in the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app to ensure optimal performance and security.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1. Device Not Pairing

• Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz (5GHz is not supported).
• Check if the device is in pairing mode (refer to app instructions for specific indications).
• Make sure the device is within range of your Wi-Fi router (for WiFi version) or ZigBee hub (for ZigBee version).
• Verify that your ZigBee hub is properly connected and online (for ZigBee version).
• Restart your router/hub and try pairing again.

8.2. Lights Not Dimming or Responding

• Confirm that the light fixture uses a DC0-10V dimming driver. This module is not compatible with other dimming protocols or non-dimmable lights.
• Check all wiring connections for looseness or incorrect placement.
• Ensure the module is receiving power.
• Verify the module is connected to the app and shows an online status.
• If using voice control, ensure the voice assistant is correctly linked to your Tuya Smart/Smart Life account.

8.3. Intermittent Connectivity

• Improve Wi-Fi signal strength by moving the router closer or using a Wi-Fi extender.
• For ZigBee, ensure the hub is centrally located and there are enough ZigBee devices to create a strong mesh network.
• Check for interference from other 2.4GHz devices.

9. User Tips

• Label Your Wires: Before disconnecting any wires during installation, use electrical tape and a marker to label them (e.g., Line, Neutral, Load, Switch) to avoid confusion.
• Test Before Closing: After wiring but before fully securing the module and switch plate, temporarily restore power to test the basic on/off and dimming functionality.
• Explore Automation: Beyond simple schedules, use the app's automation features to create scenes (e.g., "Movie Night" scene dims lights to 30%) or link with other smart devices (e.g., lights turn on when a motion sensor is triggered).
• Voice Command Shortcuts: Create custom routines or shortcuts in your Alexa or Google Home app for frequently used commands to make them even simpler.
