1. Introduction

The BST-YW-60 Neutral Salt Spray Test Chamber is designed for assessing the salt spray corrosion resistance of materials and their protective layers. This chamber facilitates salt spray, drying, wetting, soaking, and constant temperature and humidity tests.

5. Setup

6. Operating Instructions

  5. Start Test: Initiate the test cycle from the control panel. The chamber will begin heating and humidifying, and the precision glass nozzle will start spraying the salt solution.
  6. Monitor Test: Periodically monitor the test parameters on the control panel. Ensure the water level is sufficient; the automatic water filling system will manage this, but warnings will display if manual intervention is needed.
  7. Test Completion: Once the set test duration is complete, the chamber will automatically stop the spray cycle.
  8. Defogging: Activate the automatic defogging device to clear the chamber for safe sample retrieval.
  9. Sample Retrieval: Carefully open the cover and remove the tested samples for evaluation.

  • Water Level Warning: Check the water supply connection. Ensure the automatic water filling system is operational. If the warning persists, manually add water if necessary and inspect the water level sensor.
  • Lid Not Closing/Opening: Inspect the pneumatic cylinder for any obstructions or malfunctions. Ensure the air supply to the cylinder is adequate.
  • Corrosion Results Inconsistent: Verify the salt solution concentration and pH. Ensure samples are prepared and placed consistently. Check for proper calibration of the chamber.

  • For optimal results, always use high-purity water for preparing salt solutions to avoid introducing contaminants.
  • Keep a log of test parameters and results for each batch of samples to track performance and ensure consistency.
  • Regularly check the pH of your salt solution, especially for CASS tests, as maintaining the correct pH is crucial for accurate corrosion testing.
  • When placing samples, ensure they do not touch each other or the chamber walls to prevent localized effects and ensure uniform exposure.
