5. Setup

5.1 Charging the Battery

The ET693B comes with a built-in 2600mAh lithium battery. Before first use, or when the battery indicator shows low power, charge the device using the provided USB Type-C cable.

  1. Connect the USB Type-C cable to the port located on the top of the camera (refer to Figure 3).
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The charging indicator on the device will show the charging status. A full charge provides approximately 4 hours of working time.

5.2 Powering On/Off

To power the device on or off, use the Back/Power button (refer to Figure 4).

  • Power On: Press and hold the Back/Power button for a few seconds until the screen illuminates.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the Back/Power button until a power-off prompt appears on the screen, then confirm your selection.

6. Operation

6.1 Basic Temperature Measurement

The camera displays real-time thermal images and temperature readings on its 2.8-inch screen. The measurement range is -20°C to 550°C.

The device supports real-time tracking of the lowest, center, and highest temperatures, along with area temperature alarms.

6.2 Taking Photos and Videos

The ET693B allows you to capture both thermal images (JPG) and videos (MP4) for later analysis.

  • To take a photo, aim the camera at the target and press the designated photo capture button (refer to Figure 4 for button layout).
  • To record a video, press the video recording button. Press again to stop recording.
  • All captured media is stored in the built-in 8GB memory.

6.3 Color Palettes

The camera offers 9 different color palettes to visualize thermal data, allowing you to choose the best representation for different scenes and analysis needs.

  • Navigate through the menu using the arrow keys to find the 'Color Palette' setting.
  • Select the desired palette (e.g., Iron, White hot, Black hot, Rainbow, Red hot, High contrast, Lava, Arctic, Coldest) to change the thermal image display.

6.4 Laser Positioning Indicator

The built-in laser pointer helps to quickly and accurately locate the detection target and identify key temperature measurement points, especially in complex environments.

  • Activate the laser pointer through the device's menu or a custom key if assigned.
  • The laser dot will appear on the target, indicating the center of the measurement area.

6.5 Auto-Shutdown Settings

To conserve battery life, the device supports custom automatic shutdown settings.

  • Navigate to the 'Auto-power off' setting in the menu.
  • Select your preferred idle time before automatic shutdown (e.g., 5, 10, 30, 60 minutes, or Never).

6.6 Data Transmission to PC

Transfer captured images and videos to a computer for detailed analysis using the provided USB Type-C cable and offline analysis software.

  • Install the offline analysis software on your computer (software typically provided via download or included storage).
  • Connect the camera to your computer using the USB Type-C cable.
  • Open the software and import the pictures/videos for viewing and data analysis.

6.7 SUPER IR Image Technology Enhancement

The SUPER IR technology enhances the native 120x90 resolution to 300x225, improving image details for clearer and more accurate visuals.

6.8 Flashlight Lighting Function

A built-in high-brightness LED flashlight ensures clear observation of the target even in dark environments.

6.9 Language Settings

The device supports 11 languages for user interface customization.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning the Device

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the camera.
  • For the lens and screen, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution to avoid scratches. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure no moisture enters the device, especially around the USB port.

7.2 Battery Care

  • Charge the battery regularly, even if the device is not in frequent use, to maintain battery health.
  • Avoid fully discharging the battery for extended periods.
  • Store the device in a cool, dry place within the specified storage temperature range (-40℃~+85℃).

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ET693B, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Device does not power on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the device to a power source and try again. If the issue persists, contact support.
  • Screen is blank or frozen: Try restarting the device by holding down the power button. If unresponsive, allow the battery to fully discharge and then recharge before attempting to power on again.
  • Inaccurate temperature readings: Ensure the lens is clean and free from obstructions. Verify that the temperature compensation settings are appropriate for your measurement distance (supports compensation within 2 meters).
  • Cannot connect to PC: Ensure the USB Type-C cable is securely connected to both the camera and the computer. Verify that the necessary drivers or software are installed on your computer.
  • Images/Videos not saving: Check the available memory capacity. If memory is full, transfer files to a PC and delete them from the device.

9. User Tips

  • Optimize Image Clarity: Always enable the SUPER IR image enhancement feature for the clearest and most detailed thermal images.
  • Choose the Right Palette: Experiment with different color palettes (e.g., Iron red for heat distribution, Black hot/White hot for contrast) to best highlight temperature differences for your specific application.
  • Utilize Laser Pointer: For precise measurements, especially on small components or in cluttered areas, use the laser pointer to pinpoint the exact measurement spot.
  • Regular Data Backup: Periodically transfer your captured photos and videos to a computer to free up device memory and ensure your data is safely stored.
  • Monitor Battery Life: Keep an eye on the battery indicator during extended use. Utilize the auto-shutdown feature to save power when the device is idle.
