5. Setup Guide
5.1 Charging the Batteries
- Drone Battery: Connect the drone battery (3.7V 3800mAh Lithium Battery) to the provided USB charging cable. Connect the USB cable to a 5V/2A USB power adapter (not included). The charging time is approximately 1-2 hours. The indicator light on the battery or charger will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, green/off for fully charged).
- Remote Control Battery: The remote control has a built-in 5000mAh battery. Connect the remote control to a USB power source using its charging port. The charging time is approximately 4 hours (240 minutes). The battery indicator on the remote control will show charging progress.
Important: Always use the original charging cable. Do not leave batteries unattended while charging. Disconnect once fully charged.
5.2 Installing Drone Components
- Unfold the Drone: Gently unfold the drone arms until they click into place. Ensure all arms are fully extended and locked.
- Install Propellers: If not pre-installed, attach the propellers according to the markings (e.g., A and B) on the propellers and motor arms. Ensure they are securely fastened.
- Insert Drone Battery: Slide the fully charged drone battery into the battery compartment until it clicks securely.
5.3 Remote Control Setup
- Power On: Press and hold the power button on the remote control until it turns on.
- Binding (Pairing):
- Place the drone on a flat, level surface.
- Power on the drone. The drone's indicator lights will flash.
- Power on the remote control.
- Push the left joystick up and then down. The drone lights will stop flashing and remain solid, indicating successful pairing.
- Calibration:
- Gyroscope Calibration: After binding, push both joysticks to the bottom-left or bottom-right corners simultaneously for a few seconds until the drone lights flash rapidly and then become solid. This calibrates the gyroscope.
- Compass Calibration (GPS Version Only): For GPS versions, after gyroscope calibration, follow the on-screen instructions on the remote or refer to the specific GPS calibration procedure in the full manual. Typically, this involves rotating the drone horizontally and then vertically.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Basic Flight Controls (Mode 2)
The remote controller operates in Mode 2 (left stick for throttle/yaw, right stick for pitch/roll).
- Left Joystick (Throttle/Yaw):
- Up/Down: Increase/Decrease altitude (Throttle).
- Left/Right: Rotate drone left/right (Yaw).
- Right Joystick (Pitch/Roll):
- Up/Down: Move drone forward/backward (Pitch).
- Left/Right: Move drone left/right (Roll).
- One-Key Takeoff/Landing: Press the dedicated button on the remote for automatic takeoff or landing.
- Emergency Stop: In an emergency, press the emergency stop button (refer to remote diagram) to immediately cut power to the motors.
6.2 Advanced Features
Video 1: 4DRC M7 Drone Features Overview. This video demonstrates various flight modes, camera capabilities, and obstacle avoidance.
Obstacle Avoidance
The M7 Drone features 360° omnidirectional obstacle avoidance. When activated, the drone uses sensors to detect obstacles and automatically adjusts its flight path to prevent collisions. This feature is particularly useful for navigating complex environments.

Figure 5: Omnidirectional Obstacle Avoidance in action
GPS Positioning (GPS Version Only)
For GPS versions, the drone utilizes GPS global positioning for enhanced stability and intelligent flight functions:
- One-Tap Return To Home (RTH): Press the RTH button, and the drone will automatically return to its takeoff point.
- Low-Battery RTH: The drone will automatically return home when the battery level is critically low.
- Out-of-Range RTH: If the drone loses connection with the remote control, it will automatically return to its takeoff point.
- Waypoint Flight: Plan a flight path by setting multiple waypoints on the map via the app (if applicable) or remote control. The drone will follow this path autonomously.
- Smart Following: The drone can lock onto a subject (e.g., a person, car) and follow it, keeping it centered in the frame.
