4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

The YL81F display has an IPX6 waterproof rating, meaning it is protected against high-pressure water jets from any direction. You can clean the display with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the screen or casing.

4.2 Connection Checks

Periodically check the 5-pin waterproof connector to ensure it remains securely fastened and free from dirt or corrosion. A loose connection can lead to intermittent display functionality.

4.3 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the e-bike and display in a location where the temperature remains within the storage temperature range of -30℃ to 70℃ (-22℉ to 158℉).

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Display Not Powering On

  • Check all cable connections, especially the 5-pin connector, to ensure they are secure.
  • Verify that the e-bike battery is charged and properly connected.
  • If the display has an auto power-off feature enabled (04P setting), ensure you are not exceeding the set inactivity time.

5.2 Error Codes Displayed

If an error code appears on the display, note the code and refer to your e-bike's main controller manual or contact customer support for specific diagnostic information. Error codes indicate issues with various e-bike components.

5.3 Incorrect Speed or Mileage Readings

  • Check the wheel diameter setting (06P) to ensure it matches your e-bike's wheel size.
  • Verify the speed sensor magnet number setting (07P) is correct.
  • Inspect the speed sensor for damage or misalignment.

5.4 Unexpected Motor Behavior (e.g., no assist, sudden starts)

  • Review the 'Start Mode' (09P) setting (Zero start vs. Non-zero start).
  • Check the 'Drive Mode' (10P) setting to ensure it aligns with your desired riding style (Assisted, Electric, or Coexist).
  • Adjust 'Booster Sensitivity' (11P) and 'Boost Start Strength' (12P) if the assist feels too weak or too strong at startup.
