3.1. Parts and Controls

  1. Antenna: For transmitting and receiving radio signals.

5. Setup

5.1. Battery Installation

  1. Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
  2. Slide the battery pack upwards until it clicks into place.
  3. Ensure the battery release latch is securely engaged.

5.2. Antenna Attachment

  1. Screw the SMA-Male antenna clockwise into the antenna connector on top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

5.3. Charging the Battery

The TH-UV99 features a 2800mAh Li-ion battery with a convenient Type-C charging port.

  1. Using the Desktop Charger: Connect the AC adapter to the desktop charger and plug it into a power outlet. Place the radio with the battery installed into the charging cradle. The indicator light will show charging status.
  2. Using the Type-C Port: Open the rubber cover on the bottom of the radio to expose the Type-C port. Connect the Type-C charging cable to the radio and a compatible USB power source.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Power On/Off and Volume Control

Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise to turn on the radio. Continue rotating to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and turn off the radio.

6.2. Channel and Frequency Selection

Use the up/down arrow keys to navigate through channels or adjust frequencies. The A/B switch key allows you to toggle between the two available bands (VHF/UHF).

6.3. One Key Frequency Copy

The TH-UV99 supports one-key frequency duplication. This feature allows you to quickly copy frequency settings from another radio. Refer to the menu options for 'One Key Frequency Copy' to initiate this process.

6.4. VOX (Voice Operated Transmission)

The VOX function enables hands-free transmission. When activated, the radio will transmit automatically when it detects your voice. Adjust the VOX sensitivity level in the menu to suit your environment.

6.5. Scanning Functions

The radio supports various scanning modes including Freq/Ch/CTCSS/DCS Scan. Access the 'SCAN' option in the menu to initiate scanning for active frequencies or tones.

6.6. FM Radio

The TH-UV99 can receive commercial FM radio broadcasts (65-108MHz). Use the menu to switch to FM radio mode and scan for stations.

6.7. Flashlight Function

The radio is equipped with a built-in flashlight. Press the dedicated flashlight button (often combined with another function key) to turn it on or off.

7. Advanced Features

7.1. Scrambler

The scrambler function encrypts your voice transmission, providing privacy for your conversations. Activate and deactivate the scrambler through the radio's menu settings.

7.2. DTMF/2Tone/5Tone Signaling

The TH-UV99 supports DTMF, 2Tone, and 5Tone signaling for advanced communication features such as selective calling or remote control. Configure these settings in the menu.

7.3. 1750Hz Repeater Access Tone
