The Q96 Max TV Box is a smart media player designed to transform your television into a smart entertainment hub. Running on Android 14 with an Allwinner H313 Quad Core 64-bit processor, it supports 4K HD, 3D playback, and H.265 video decoding for a rich multimedia experience.

2. Setup Instructions

2.1. Connecting the TV Box

  1. Connect one end of the provided HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT port on the Q96 Max TV Box.
  2. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to an available HDMI input port on your television.
  3. Connect the power adapter to the DC 5V/2A port on the TV Box and then plug the adapter into a power outlet.
  4. Ensure your television is powered on and set to the correct HDMI input source.

2.2. Network Connection

The Q96 Max TV Box supports both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections. Note that Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections are mutually exclusive; only one can be active at a time.

2.2.1. Wi-Fi Connection

  1. From the Home Screen, navigate to SETTINGS > Network > Wi-Fi.
  2. The system will automatically scan for available wireless access points.
  3. Select your desired Wi-Fi network from the list.
  4. Enter the network password when prompted.
  5. After successful verification, an IP address will be provided, and "Connected" will be displayed.

2.2.2. Ethernet Connection

  1. From the Home Screen, navigate to SETTINGS > Network > Ethernet.
  2. The box will automatically initiate the DHCP process.
  3. Plug an Ethernet cable into the RJ45 port on the TV Box.
  4. The box will automatically stop any active Wi-Fi connection and establish the Ethernet connection. The network connection is available when an IP address appears.

3.1. Basic Navigation

Use the included remote control to navigate the interface:

  • Directional Pad (Arrows): Move between menu items and options.
  • OK Button: Select an item or confirm an action.
  • Back Button: Return to the previous screen.
  • Home Button: Go directly to the Home Screen.
  • Menu Button: Access context-sensitive menus or options.

3.2. Opening and Closing Applications

  1. Open Applications: From the Home Screen, select the desired application icon and click the OK button on the remote.
  2. Switch Applications: Click the "My Apps" button (often represented by a grid icon) to view all installed applications. Select another application to switch.
  3. Close Applications: To close an application, press the "Back" button repeatedly until you return to the Home Screen, or navigate to the application settings to force close.

  • Internal Storage: Access files stored directly on the device.
  • USB Disk / HDD: Insert a USB flash drive or external hard drive into one of the USB 2.0 ports.
  • TF Card: Insert a TF card into the dedicated slot.
  • Network Storage: Utilize DLNA file sharing for media from other devices on your network.

3.4. External Storage Data

To read external storage data (U Disk or TF card):

  1. Insert the U Disk or TF card into the corresponding port on the TV Box.
  2. On the Home Screen, navigate to the file manager application (often labeled "FileBrowser" or similar).
  3. Select the U Disk or TF card icon. The content will be displayed, and you can access files for playback.

4. System Upgrade

To ensure optimal performance and access to the latest features, you may need to upgrade the TV Box firmware. This process typically involves an OTA (Over-The-Air) update via a TF card or USB storage device.

  1. Copy the OTA-zip file (firmware update file) to a TF card or USB storage device.
  2. Disconnect the power adapter from the TV Box.
  3. Insert a non-metallic stick (like a toothpick) into the small reset hole located at the bottom of the device. Press and hold the reset button inside the hole.
  4. While still pressing the reset button, plug the power adapter back into the TV Box.
  5. Continue holding the reset button until the Android logo appears on your TV screen, indicating the device is restarting. Release the button.
  6. Using the remote control, navigate to "Update from EXT app" > "Update from TF card" (or "Udisk" if using a USB device).
  7. Select the "xxx.zip" (upgrade package file) and press "OK".
  8. The screen will display "--install/SD card..." indicating the upgrade is in progress. Once complete, "Installation from SD card complete" will appear.
  9. Select "Reboot system now" and press "OK" on the remote, or disconnect and reconnect the power adapter to restart the TV Box.
  10. The device will boot to the "Welcome" screen, indicating the upgrade is successful.
