3. Device Overview

Familiarize yourself with the buttons and ports on your TF-23 recorder:

  • USB-C Interface: For charging and data transfer.
  • External Card Slot: For inserting a TF card to expand memory.
  • SAVE Key: To save current settings or recordings.
  • Previous Song / Rewind: Navigate to previous track or rewind during playback.
  • Start/Pause / Play: Play or pause audio.

4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Device

Before first use, fully charge the recorder. Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the device's USB-C interface and the other end to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port. The battery indicator on the screen will show charging status.

4.2 Power On/Off

Press and hold the Power Button on the side of the device to turn it on or off.

4.3 Inserting a TF Card (Optional)

If you wish to expand the storage capacity, insert a TF card into the External Card Slot. The device supports external memory.

4.4 Connecting External Microphone

Connect the external microphone to the dedicated microphone input port (often combined with the line-in port or a separate 3.5mm jack). The external microphone is designed to enhance recording quality in specific scenarios.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 One-Click Recording and Saving

  1. To start recording, push the side recording button up. The device will immediately begin recording, even if powered off.
  2. To save the recording, push the side recording button down. The recording will be saved, and the device will stop recording.

5.2 Voice Activated Recording (VOR)

The TF-23 supports voice-activated recording. When enabled, the recorder will automatically start recording when sound is detected above a set decibel level and pause when there is no sound. This feature helps conserve memory and battery life.

To enable/disable VOR and adjust sensitivity, navigate to the 'Settings' menu on the device.

5.3 Timed Recording

You can schedule the recorder to start and stop recording at specific times. This is useful for lectures or meetings you cannot attend in person.

5.4 Playback Functions

  • Normal Playback: Navigate to the 'Recorder' or 'Music' folder, select a file, and press the Start/Pause button.
  • AB Loop Playback: During playback, press the 'Option' or 'Menu' button to set the start point (A) and end point (B) for repeating a specific segment. This feature also includes manual variable speed adjustment.

  • Volume Adjustment: Use the Volume+ and Volume- buttons on the side of the device.

5.5 Line-in Recording

The device supports line-in recording, allowing you to record audio directly from external sources like phones or other audio devices using the provided line-in cable.

Connect the line-in cable to the device's line-in port and the audio output of your external device. Select 'Line-in Recording' from the menu to begin.

5.6 Fixed Phone Recording

The TF-23 can record conversations from a fixed landline phone using a recording transfer case (not included, but implied by image). This feature ensures clear recording of landline phone calls.

5.7 Password Protection

To protect your recorded files, you can set a password for the device. Access this feature in the 'Settings' menu to prevent unauthorized access.

5.8 File Management and Transfer

Connect the recorder to a computer using the USB cable. The device will appear as a removable disk, allowing you to easily transfer, organize, and delete files. The recorder has four built-in folders for organization.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly, even if not in use for extended periods.
  • Software Updates: Check the manufacturer's website periodically for any available firmware updates.

7. Troubleshooting

Device does not power on:
Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the device to a power source and try again. If the issue persists, perform a hard reset (refer to the device overview for a reset button if available, or hold the power button for an extended period).
Poor recording quality:
  • Check microphone placement.
  • Ensure the noise reduction feature is enabled if in a noisy environment.
  • Verify the recording format and bitrate settings (e.g., 1536kbps PCM for highest quality).
  • If using an external microphone, ensure it is properly connected and functioning.
Cannot transfer files to computer:
  • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the recorder and the computer.
  • Try a different USB port or cable.
  • Restart both the recorder and the computer.
Voice Activated Recording (VOR) not working as expected:
  • Check the VOR sensitivity settings in the 'Settings' menu. Adjust it to be more or less sensitive to ambient sound.
  • Ensure VOR is enabled.
