  2. Flip the Power Toggle Switch to the ON position. The Power Indicator Light should illuminate.
  3. The LCD Display Screen will show "CH1: 搜索中" and "CH2: 搜索中" (Searching) if no TF card is inserted, indicating normal operation.

5.2 Preparing for Firmware Upgrade via TF Card

To perform a firmware upgrade using a TF card, follow these steps:

  1. Required Components:
    • One (1) TF Card (32GB or less), formatted to FAT or FAT32 file system.
    • At least two (2) MP3 files (no specific requirements for the MP3 files).
    • The firmware upgrade file named "updata.bfu".
  2. Preparation Steps:
    1. Disconnect the power to the test kit.
    2. Locate the TF card slot on the back of the test kit.
    3. Copy the firmware upgrade file named "updata.bfu" and at least two MP3 files to the root directory of the TF card.
    4. Insert the prepared TF card into the slot on the back of the test kit.

6. Operation

6.1 Bluetooth Device Testing

Once powered on, the test box will automatically connect to Bluetooth boards for testing. It can test two Bluetooth devices simultaneously.

  • The LCD will display the Bluetooth name, Bluetooth address, and frequency offset.
  • It performs frequency offset display and calibration of the Bluetooth crystal oscillator.
  • Call tests are also supported.

6.2 Firmware Upgrade Process (via TF Card)

After preparing the TF card as described in Section 5.2:

  1. Power on the test kit with the TF card inserted.
  2. The display should change from "CH1: 搜索中" (Searching) to "CH1: BT升级搜索中" (BT Upgrade Searching) or similar, indicating it's waiting for an upgrade.

Figure 5: Left: TF card not inserted (normal state). Right: TF card inserted, waiting for upgrade "Searching for Upgrade...".

If this message does not appear, it likely means the TF card was not detected. Check that it is inserted properly and formatted correctly.

  3. The upgrade process will begin, and a progress bar will be displayed on the LCD screen.

6.3 Remote Firmware Updates (OTA)

Test boxes purchased since 2022 support remote firmware updates. Refer to the user manual (available via the technical resources link) for detailed instructions on this process.

7. Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • Store the device in a safe place when not in use to prevent physical damage.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Common Issues and Solutions

Q: The test box does not power on.
A: Ensure the 9V power adapter is correctly connected and the power switch is in the ON position. Verify the power outlet is functional.
Q: The TF card is not detected during firmware upgrade.
A: Ensure the TF card (32GB or less) is formatted to FAT or FAT32. Verify that the "updata.bfu" file and at least two MP3 files are copied to the root directory of the TF card. Reinsert the TF card securely.
Q: System crashes (freezes) occur during the upgrade process.
A: Do NOT power off the target board if the system crashes. The system will automatically attempt a second upgrade. Powering off during a crash can brick the device.
Important Notes - Critical! During the upgrade process, system crashes (freezes) may occasionally occur. If the system crashes, do not power off the target board. The system will automatically attempt a second upgrade.
Figure 7: Critical warning regarding system crashes during firmware upgrade.
Q: The test box cannot connect to other brands of Bluetooth chips.
A: This test box is specifically designed for JieLi (JL) Bluetooth solutions only. It is not compatible with other brands.
Q: Values of frequency offset measured are very different.
A: This often indicates poor quality or inconsistent crystal oscillators. While the test box can partially correct this, using high-quality crystal oscillators is recommended for better Bluetooth stability and connection range.
Q: Do I need to retest after a software upgrade?
A: Yes, it is recommended to retest to verify the upgrade process. If the frequency offset correction function was used, calibration data might be lost and require re-correction. It's best to perform software upgrades before the final test process.
