4. Setup
4.1 Charging the Device
The Yieryi Soil Tester comes with a built-in high-capacity lithium battery. Before initial use, or when the battery indicator on the display shows low power, charge the device using the provided USB Type-C cable.
- Connect the USB Type-C cable to the charging port on the side of the device.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
- The device will indicate charging status on its display. Charge until the battery icon shows full.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Preparing for Measurement
- Ensure the soil to be tested is moist. If the soil is dry, water it thoroughly and wait for about 20-30 minutes before testing to allow water to penetrate.
- Avoid testing extremely hard or rocky soil, as this can damage the probes.
- The device is designed for soil testing only and is not suitable for hydroponic solutions or other liquids.

5.2 Taking a Measurement
- Gently insert the soil detector probes into the soil to a depth of approximately 100-160mm (4-6 inches). Ensure both probes are fully submerged in the soil for accurate readings.
- Adjust the screen angle by rotating the display head up to 90 degrees for optimal viewing.
- Press the power button briefly to turn on the device and initiate data collection.
- During the data collection process, the moisture and pH indicators will flash for approximately 7 seconds.
- Once the values stabilize, read the measurements directly from the LCD display. The screen will show pH, moisture, temperature, fertility, sunlight intensity, and air humidity.

5.3 Interpreting Readings
- pH Value: Understand your soil's acidity or alkalinity. Different plants thrive in specific pH ranges.
- Moisture: Indicates the water content in the soil. Keep an eye on this to prevent over or under-watering.
- Temperature: Soil temperature affects root growth and nutrient uptake.
- Fertility: Measures the electrical conductivity (EC) of the soil, which correlates with nutrient levels.
- Sunlight Intensity: Helps determine if your plants are receiving adequate light.
- Air Humidity: Provides ambient humidity levels, important for plant transpiration and overall health.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning the Probes
To ensure accurate and consistent readings, it is crucial to clean the metal probes after each measurement.
- After removing the device from the soil, use a clean tissue or a soft scouring pad to gently wipe any soil residue from the alloy probes.
- Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that could damage the probe surface.
- Ensure the probes are completely dry before storing the device.

6.2 Storage
Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep it away from children and pets.
7. Troubleshooting
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Ensure probes are clean and free of residue.
- Verify the soil is adequately moist before testing.
- Ensure probes are inserted to the recommended depth (100-160mm).
- Avoid testing in extremely hard or rocky soil.
- Device Not Turning On/Display Issues:
- Check battery level and recharge if necessary.
- Ensure the power button is pressed firmly.
- Device Damaged or Malfunctioning:
If the product is damaged, cannot be calibrated, or does not work normally despite following the instructions, please contact customer support for assistance. Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself.
8. User Tips
- For best results, take multiple readings in different spots within the same area and average them.
- Regularly monitor your soil conditions, especially during changes in weather or plant growth stages.
- Keep a log of your readings to track trends and understand your plants' needs over time.
- Remember that the device measures soil temperature when inserted into the soil, and air humidity when not inserted.
