DUMBORC P4FM/P4FMG 4-Channel 2.4G PWM Mini Receiver Instruction Manual

Model: P4FM/P4FMG | Brand: NeebRC

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the DUMBORC P4FM and P4FMG 4-channel 2.4G PWM Mini Receivers. These receivers are designed for use with DUMBORC X4, X6, X6PM-350, and DDF-350 series remote controllers in RC cars, boats, and tanks. The P4FMG model includes a built-in gyroscope for enhanced stability, particularly beneficial for RC drift cars.

Both models utilize FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) technology with 67 pseudo-random frequency hopping channels to ensure stable and interference-resistant signal transmission.

2. Product Overview

The DUMBORC P4FM and P4FMG receivers are compact and lightweight, making them ideal for mini RC applications. The primary difference between the two models is the integrated gyroscope in the P4FMG, which assists in maintaining vehicle stability and control.

3. Setup

3.1 Binding the Receiver to the Transmitter

  1. Ensure your DUMBORC transmitter (X4, X6, X6PM-350, or DDF-350 series) is turned off.
  2. Connect a power source (3V-10V DC) to the receiver, typically through the CH3 or CH4 port if not using an ESC with BEC.
  3. Press and hold the 'Check code' button on the receiver.
  4. While holding the button, turn on the receiver's power. The receiver's LED should start flashing rapidly, indicating it is in binding mode.
  5. Turn on your DUMBORC transmitter.
  6. The receiver's LED should turn solid, indicating a successful bind.
  7. Release the 'Check code' button.
  8. Turn off both the receiver and transmitter, then turn them back on in the correct sequence (transmitter first, then receiver) to confirm the bind.

3.2 Installation and Wiring

  1. Mount the receiver securely in your RC vehicle, away from large metal objects or high-current wires that could cause interference.
  2. Ensure the antenna is extended and positioned as straight as possible, away from carbon fiber or metal parts, for optimal signal range.
  3. Connect your Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) to CH2 (throttle) and your steering servo to CH1.
  4. If using additional functions, connect them to CH3 and CH4 as required by your setup.
  5. For the P4FMG model, ensure the receiver is mounted flat and securely to allow the gyroscope to function correctly.

4. Operating

4.1 Standard Operation (P4FM & P4FMG)

Once bound and installed, the receiver will provide standard 4-channel PWM control for your RC vehicle. Operate your transmitter as usual to control steering, throttle, and any auxiliary functions connected to CH3 and CH4.

4.2 Gyro Function (P4FMG Only)

The P4FMG model features a built-in gyroscope. This gyroscope automatically detects and corrects unwanted yaw movements, providing enhanced stability and control, especially beneficial for:

  • RC Drift Cars: Helps maintain drift angles and recover from spins more easily.
  • High-Speed Vehicles: Improves straight-line stability and reduces twitchiness.
  • Rough Terrain: Assists in keeping the vehicle stable over uneven surfaces.

The gyroscope's sensitivity may be adjustable via your DUMBORC transmitter, if supported. Refer to your transmitter's manual for specific gyro adjustment procedures.

5. Maintenance

  • Keep the receiver clean and free from dust, dirt, and moisture.
  • Avoid exposing the receiver to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Regularly check all wiring connections for looseness or damage.
  • Ensure the antenna is not cut, kinked, or damaged, as this can significantly reduce range.
  • If the receiver gets wet, disconnect power immediately and allow it to dry completely before re-applying power.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 No Signal / Loss of Control

  • Check Binding: Ensure the receiver is correctly bound to your transmitter. Re-bind if necessary.
  • Power Supply: Verify the receiver is receiving adequate power (3V-10V DC).
  • Antenna Position: Ensure the antenna is fully extended and not obstructed by metal or carbon fiber.
  • Range: Test the receiver's range. If it's significantly reduced, check for local interference or a damaged antenna.
  • Transmitter Compatibility: Confirm your transmitter is a compatible DUMBORC X4, X6, X6PM-350, or DDF-350 series model.

6.2 Gyro Malfunction (P4FMG Only)

  • Mounting: Ensure the receiver is mounted flat and securely. Any vibration or loose mounting can affect gyro performance.
  • Calibration: Some transmitters allow gyro calibration. Refer to your transmitter manual.
  • Interference: Strong electromagnetic interference can affect gyro sensors. Try relocating the receiver.
