1. Introduction

The FREESAT V8X-Ⅱ is a high-definition digital satellite receiver designed to provide a comprehensive television viewing experience. It supports DVB-S/DVB-S2/DVB-S2X standards, allowing reception of various satellite signals. With built-in 2.4G WiFi, multiple network functions, and support for advanced decoding technologies, the V8X-Ⅱ offers versatile entertainment options.

3. Product Overview

3.1 Front Panel

3.2 Rear Panel and Interfaces

The rear panel provides various connection ports:

  • LNB IN: Connects to your satellite dish LNB.
  • CA: Common Access Card slot for conditional access modules.
  • RS232: Serial port for service or firmware updates.
  • USB 2.0: For connecting USB devices (e.g., for firmware updates, media playback, PVR recording).
  • LAN: Ethernet port for wired network connection.
  • HDMI: High-Definition Multimedia Interface for connecting to a TV or display.
  • AUDIO R/L, VIDEO: RCA analog audio/video outputs.
  • COAXIAL: Digital audio output.
  • ON/OFF: Power switch.
  • DC 12V: Power input for the adapter.

4. Setup

4.1 Physical Connection

  1. Connect the satellite dish LNB cable to the LNB IN port on the receiver.
  2. Connect the receiver to your TV using an HDMI cable for the best picture and sound quality. Alternatively, use RCA cables for older TVs.
  3. Insert the power adapter into the DC 12V port and plug it into a power outlet.
  4. If using a CA card, insert it into the CA slot.
  5. Turn on the receiver using the ON/OFF switch.

4.2 Network Connection

The V8X-Ⅱ features built-in 2.4G WiFi for wireless network connectivity. You can also use the LAN port for a wired connection.

To configure network settings:

  • Navigate to the 'Network Setting' menu on your TV screen.
  • Select 'WiFi' to connect to a wireless network or ensure 'IP Setting' is configured for a wired connection.

4.3 Firmware Upgrade

The V8X-Ⅱ supports online OTA (Over-The-Air) updates or USB import for firmware upgrades. It is recommended to keep your device's firmware updated for optimal performance and new features.

To upgrade via USB:

  • Download the latest firmware file from the official website to a USB flash drive.
  • Insert the USB drive into the receiver's USB 2.0 port.
  • Navigate to the 'Software' or 'Update' section in the system menu and follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

5. Operation

5.1 Channel Management

The receiver allows you to manage and browse channels efficiently. You can sort, edit, and find channels using the remote control.

Use the remote control to navigate through the channel list and access various options like sorting by TP (Transponder), Type, or A-Z.

5.2 PVR Recording

The PVR (Personal Video Recorder) function allows you to record your favorite programs to a connected USB storage device and watch them at your convenience.

To use PVR:

  • Connect a USB storage device (e.g., flash drive or external hard drive) to the USB 2.0 port.
  • Press the 'Record' button on your remote control to start recording the current program.
  • Use the playback controls (play, pause, stop, fast forward, rewind) to manage recorded content.

5.3 CA Card Function

The V8X-Ⅱ supports a CA card slot, enabling access to encrypted programs and unlocking more content.

Insert your compatible CA card into the designated slot on the receiver to access subscribed channels.

5.4 DLNA Projection

The DLNA Projection feature allows you to cast content from your mobile device to your TV screen via the V8X-Ⅱ, providing a higher definition picture on a larger display.

Ensure both your mobile device and the V8X-Ⅱ receiver are connected to the same network. Use a compatible DLNA application on your mobile device to initiate projection.

5.5 Video Software and Server Settings

The receiver supports various video software and network functions, including BISS auto roll, Full PowerVu, DRE, Ccam, Newcam, Funcam, and Mars.

Access the 'Server Setting' menu under 'Network Setting' to configure server types and connection details. Ensure your network connection is active for these features to function correctly.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the receiver is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block ventilation openings.
  • Power Off: Always turn off and unplug the device during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your FREESAT V8X-Ⅱ receiver, try the following steps:

  • No Power: Check the power adapter connection and ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • No Signal: Verify that the LNB IN cable is securely connected to the satellite dish. Check satellite settings in the menu.
  • No Picture/Sound: Ensure the HDMI or RCA cables are correctly connected to both the receiver and the TV. Check the TV's input source.
  • Network Connection Issues: Confirm your WiFi password is correct or that the Ethernet cable is properly connected. Restart your router and the receiver.
  • Channel Scrambled/Encrypted: Ensure your CA card is correctly inserted and active, or check your server settings if using network-based decryption.
  • Remote Control Not Working: Check the batteries in the remote control. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the receiver.

10. User Tips
