1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Aicevoos AS-A1 Non-Contact Voltage Tester Pen. This device is designed for safe and efficient detection of AC voltage, distinguishing between neutral and live wires, and identifying breakpoints in electrical circuits without direct contact. Its compact design and user-friendly features make it an essential tool for electricians, DIY enthusiasts, and homeowners.

2. Safety Information
WARNING: To avoid possible electric shock or personal injury, please read and understand all instructions before using this product.
- The current limit and the AC voltage limit of this product are 1000V. Do not use it to test AC voltage exceeding 1000V.
- Always test on a known live circuit first to make sure the product is working properly.
- If the product appears damaged or is not operating correctly, do not use it.
- Do not use it in an environment where there is a danger of electric shock. Keep away from such voltage.
- Do not use it in an environment with explosive gas, steam, or dust.
- Do not use it in a wet environment.
- Make sure your fingers are behind the anti-slip guard during operation.
- When the product is used to test AC voltage, the signal indicator will light up and a beep will sound when it detects AC voltage. The higher the AC voltage, the closer the product is to the AC voltage source, the faster the beep and the brighter the signal indicator.
3. Product Overview

4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
The AS-A1 requires two (2) 1.5V AAA batteries. To install or replace batteries:
- Unscrew the Battery Cover (7) at the top of the pen.
- Insert two 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Screw the Battery Cover back on securely.
4.2 Powering On/Off
- To Power On: Press the Power Button (2). A beep will sound, and the Power Indicator (1) will light up.
- To Power Off: Press the Power Button (2) again.
- Automatic Power-off: The device will automatically shut down after 5 minutes of non-operation to conserve battery life.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Non-Contact AC Voltage Measurement
The tester is designed to detect AC voltage in the range of 12V to 1000V at 50-60Hz.
- Power on the device.
- Place the NCV Sensor Head (6) near the AC voltage source (e.g., wire, outlet).
- The device will provide audible and light prompts:
- Slow Beeping Sound & Yellow Light Flashing: Indicates a neutral wire or lower voltage.
- Rapid Beeping Sound & Red Light Flashing: Indicates a live wire or higher voltage.

5.2 High/Low Sensitivity Switching
The tester defaults to low sensitivity mode upon power-on.
- Low Sensitivity Mode: Detects AC voltage in the range of 48V to 1000V. Ideal for general testing and avoiding false positives.
- High Sensitivity Mode: Detects AC voltage in the range of 12V to 1000V. Useful for detecting voltage through insulation or from a greater distance.
To switch sensitivity, press the H/L Button (3) while the device is powered on.

5.3 Neutral/Live Wires Measurement
The tester can help distinguish between neutral and live wires:
- Neutral Wire: When the NCV Sensor Head is close to a neutral wire, a slow beep will sound, and the Signal Indicator will flash yellow.
- Live Wire: When the NCV Sensor Head is close to a live wire, a rapid beep will sound, and the Signal Indicator will flash red.

5.4 Breakpoint Finder
To locate a breakpoint in a wire:
- Trace the wire with the NCV Sensor Head.
- A red indicator light and urgent beeping sound indicate the presence of a live wire.
- When the light and sound stop, it indicates a breakpoint in the wire.

5.5 Flashlight Function
The integrated flashlight (5) helps illuminate dark work environments.
- While the device is powered on, a short press of the Power Button (2) may toggle the flashlight on or off. (Refer to specific product behavior if different).

5.6 Laser Localization
The tester includes a laser for precise targeting.
- The laser function is typically activated by a dedicated button or a specific combination of button presses. (Refer to specific product behavior if different).

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- Wipe the device with a dry, soft cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure the device is dry before storage.
6.2 Battery Replacement
- When the Power Indicator (1) flashes, it indicates a low battery. Replace the batteries as described in Section 4.1.
- Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
6.3 Storage
- Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Keep out of reach of children.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries. | Replace batteries, ensuring correct polarity. |
| Inaccurate or inconsistent readings. | Incorrect sensitivity setting; external interference; device malfunction. | Switch sensitivity (H/L button). Move away from other electrical devices. If problem persists, contact support. |
| No detection when voltage is present. | Device not powered on; low battery; incorrect sensitivity. | Ensure device is on. Check battery level. Switch to High Sensitivity mode. |
| Flashlight not working. | Device not powered on; low battery; flashlight function not activated. | Ensure device is on and batteries are good. Try pressing the power button briefly to toggle the flashlight. |

9. User Tips
- Always test the voltage tester on a known live circuit (e.g., a working outlet) before using it on an unknown circuit to confirm it is functioning correctly.
- When working in tight spaces or trying to pinpoint a specific wire, use the low sensitivity mode for more precise detection. Switch to high sensitivity for broader area scans or detecting voltage through thicker insulation.
- The flashlight is a convenient feature for working in dimly lit areas. Remember to turn it off when not needed to save battery.
- For breakpoint detection, move the tester slowly along the wire. The change in indication (from light/sound to no light/sound) will help identify the break.
