2. Safety Information

  • Ensure the input voltage matches the specifications of the controller and your LED strips (DC 5V-24V).
  • Do not exceed the maximum total output current of 16A or 12A per channel.
  • The USB-C interface supports 5V input with a maximum current of 5A. Do not exceed these limits.
  • Disconnect power before making any electrical connections or disconnections.
  • Keep the device away from water, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
  • This product is intended for indoor use only.

5. Setup

5.1. Power Supply Options

The controller offers three methods for power input:

  1. 5.5x2.1mm DC Socket: Standard DC barrel jack for power adapters.
  2. V+, V- Power Interface: Screw terminals for direct wire connection from a power supply.
  3. USB-C Power Supply: A convenient USB-C port for 5V input (max 5A).

5.2. Wiring Instructions

The controller features quick connect ports for easy wiring. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the connector upwards.
  2. Insert the wire (suggested 0.34-4mm² / 22-12AWG) into the appropriate terminal.
  3. Press down on the connector to secure the wire.

For connecting your LED strip:

  • The group of 'D' for GPIO16 is the default data output. Use this group first for your LED strip's data line.
  • The other group of 'D' is GPIO2, which can be used after configuration on the WLED APP.
  • Connect V to VCC (positive power) and G to GND (ground).

5.3. Application Download

To control your WLED controller, download the WLED app:

5.4. App Configuration Steps

Follow these steps to configure your controller with the WLED app:

  1. Step One: Turn on the WLED controller. Open your phone's settings and find the WLED-AP hotspot. Connect to it using the password "wled1234".
  2. Step Two: After a successful connection, it will automatically redirect to the WLED page. If not, open a browser and navigate to the WLED page. Click on "WIFI Settings".
  3. Step Three: Click "Scan" to display available Wi-Fi networks.
  4. Step Four: Select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (5GHz networks are not supported), enter the password, and click "Save".
  5. Step Five: Connect your phone and the WLED controller to the same Wi-Fi network.
  6. Step Six: After successful connection, open the WLED app.
  7. Step Seven: Click on "Blank space" to enter the WLED page.
  8. Step Eight: Enter the WLED page for configuration and control.

6.1. WLED App Control

The WLED app provides comprehensive control over your LED strips:

  • Color Selection: Choose from 16 million colors using the color wheel.
  • Dynamic Effects: Access over 100 pre-installed dynamic lighting effects, including Rainbow Gradient, Breathing, Music Sync, and more.
  • Segment Control: Divide your LED strips into independent segments and apply different effects or colors to each.
  • DIY Lighting Effects: Create and save up to 250 user presets for customized lighting scenes.
  • Sync Effects: Synchronize lighting effects across multiple LED strips connected to the WLED controller on the same Wi-Fi network.

6.2. Button Functions

The controller features two buttons: Reset and Opt.

  • Reset Button: Pressing this button will put the controller module in a powered-off state, making the WLED controller unusable. Releasing the button will power the module back on. This button is useful for powering the controller on and off when it's inconvenient to access the power supply.
  • Opt Button:
    • Short press: Power on/off.
    • Long press for 1 second: Switch colors.
    • Long press for more than 10 seconds: The WLED device will be reset to factory settings, and the WLED-AP hotspot will be activated. Do not use unless it is an emergency or if the factory settings have been restored.

6.3. External Push Switch (GPIO33)

The GPIO33 port can be used to connect an external push switch for additional physical control. This allows for basic functions like power on/off, color adjustment, and mode changes without needing the app.

  • Long press 10s: Enter Wi-Fi AP mode, pop-up hotspot "WLED-AP"

8. Troubleshooting
