Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your T40 printer.

1. Cleaning the Print Head

The print head is a critical component and should be cleaned regularly to prevent print quality issues.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Open the top cover.
  • Use a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher) to gently wipe the print head surface.
  • Allow the print head to dry completely before closing the cover and turning the printer back on.

2. General Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.

3. Paper Handling

  • Always use high-quality thermal labels to prevent damage to the print head and ensure clear prints.
  • Store label rolls in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain their thermal properties.
  • Ensure labels are loaded correctly and the guide rails are adjusted properly to prevent paper jams.

Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their solutions:

1. Printer Not Responding / Not Printing

  • Check Power: Ensure the printer is plugged in and turned ON.
  • Check Connection:
    • USB: Verify the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer. Try a different USB port or cable.
    • Bluetooth: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device and the printer is paired correctly in the app.
    • WiFi/LAN: Check network cable connection (for LAN) or WiFi signal strength. Re-run WiFi configuration if necessary.
  • Driver/App: Ensure the correct drivers are installed on your PC or the mobile app is properly configured and connected.
  • Paper: Check if there is paper loaded and if it's loaded correctly.

2. Poor Print Quality

  • Clean Print Head: A dirty print head can cause faded or streaky prints. Refer to the Maintenance section for cleaning instructions.
  • Adjust Darkness: Some software/apps allow adjusting print darkness. Increase the darkness setting if prints are too light.
  • Label Quality: Ensure you are using high-quality thermal labels. Old or low-quality labels can affect print clarity.
  • Resolution: The printer has a 203dpi resolution. Ensure your label design is optimized for this resolution.
