Setup

Initial Charging

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the internal 4000mAh Li-ion battery. Connect the radio to a USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, computer) using the provided Micro USB cable. The charging indicator light will show the charging status. A full charge ensures optimal performance.

Optional AAA Battery Installation

For extended power or as a backup, you can install 3 AAA batteries (not included). Locate the AAA battery compartment on the back of the radio. Open the cover, insert the batteries according to the polarity markings, and close the cover. To use AAA battery power, switch the POWER button to the 'AAA' position.

Operating Instructions

Powering the Radio

The Mesqool CR1009 offers 5 ways to power it:

  1. Internal 4000mAh Li-ion Battery: The primary power source, rechargeable via Micro USB, solar panel, or hand crank.
  2. Micro USB Charging: Connect to any standard USB power adapter.
  3. Solar Panel: Place the radio in direct sunlight to charge the internal battery. The solar panel can charge the radio outdoors on a sunny day.
  4. Hand Crank: Rotate the crank handle to generate power and charge the internal battery. The crank handle can power the radio and also save battery in case of power failure.
  5. AAA Batteries (Optional): Insert 3 AAA batteries and switch the POWER button to 'AAA'.

Radio Function (AM/FM/SW/NOAA)

  1. Turn On: Rotate the 'VOLUME' knob clockwise to turn on the radio and adjust the volume.
  2. Select Band: Use the 'BAND' switch to select between AM, FM, SW, or Weather Band (NOAA).
  3. Tune Station: Rotate the 'TUNING' knob to find your desired station. The radio gets good reception even with the antenna down.
  4. Extend Antenna: For better reception, extend the telescopic antenna.

Flashlight and Reading Lamp

  1. Flashlight: Press the flashlight button (often marked with a light bulb icon) to activate the bright 3W LED flashlight. Press again to turn off.
  2. Reading Lamp: Raise the solar panel to reveal the integrated 6 LED reading lamp. This provides ambient light for reading or general illumination.

SOS Alarm Function

In an emergency, press and hold the 'SOS' button (usually red) to activate a loud audible alarm and a flashing red beacon. This feature is designed to attract attention and guide rescuers to your location.

USB Phone Charger (Power Bank)

The radio can act as an emergency power bank for your mobile devices. Connect your mobile phone to the 'USB Charger Port (Output)' using your device's charging cable. The internal 4000mAh Li-ion battery or power generated by the hand crank will charge your phone. Your mobile phone never runs out, even in case of power outage.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
