5.6 Pythagorean Measurement (Indirect Measurement)
This mode is used to measure inaccessible heights or distances using the Pythagorean theorem.
- Press the Area/Volume/Pythagorean button three times to enter Pythagorean measurement mode. A triangle icon will appear, indicating the sides to be measured.
- Measure the hypotenuse (diagonal distance) by aiming the laser and pressing READ.
- Measure the base (horizontal distance) by aiming the laser and pressing READ.
- The device will automatically calculate and display the unknown side (height).

8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not turn on | Low or dead batteries; Incorrect battery installation. | Replace batteries; Check battery polarity. |
| Inaccurate measurements | Laser lens dirty; Unstable measurement surface; Device not held steady; Measurement exceeding range. | Clean laser lens; Ensure stable surface; Hold device steady; Measure within specified range. |
| Display error message | Environmental interference; Internal error. | Move to a different location; Restart the device. If persistent, contact support. |
| Laser not visible | Bright ambient light; Laser off. | Use in lower light conditions; Ensure device is powered on and laser is activated. |
9. User Tips
- For best accuracy, especially over longer distances or in bright conditions, use a stable surface or a tripod.
- When measuring reflective or transparent surfaces, the laser beam might scatter, leading to inaccurate readings. Consider using a target plate if available.
- Always ensure the reference point (front or rear of the device) is correctly set for your measurement needs.
- Practice with basic measurements before attempting complex functions like Pythagorean or volume calculations.
