User Instruction Manual for Sony A6600 Camera

1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Meike MK-A6600 Pro Vertical Battery Grip. This battery grip is designed specifically for the Sony A6600 camera, providing enhanced handling, extended battery life, and a comfortable vertical shooting experience. It features a built-in 2.4GHz wireless remote controller for convenient shutter release and timer functions.

2. Package Contents

Please check to ensure all items are present in your package:

  • 1 x Shutter Signal Cable
  • 1 x Instruction Manual (this document)

Note: NP-FZ100 Lithium batteries for the grip and AAA batteries for the remote controller are NOT included and must be purchased separately.

3. Setup Guide

3.1. Installing Batteries

For the Battery Grip:

  1. Ensure the camera and battery grip are powered off.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover on the battery grip.
  3. Insert up to two (2) NP-FZ100 Lithium batteries into the designated slots, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

For the Remote Controller:

  1. Locate the battery cover on the back of the remote controller.
  2. Slide or open the cover.
  3. Insert two (2) AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery cover.

3.2. Attaching the Battery Grip to the Camera

  1. Ensure your Sony A6600 camera is powered off.
  2. Remove the camera's battery and the battery compartment cover.
  3. Align the battery grip's mounting plate with the camera's tripod socket.
  4. Insert the grip's electrical contacts into the camera's battery compartment.
  5. Tighten the mounting screw on the battery grip into the camera's tripod socket until secure.
  6. Ensure the 'LOCK' switch on the grip is engaged to prevent accidental detachment.

3.3. Connecting the Shutter Signal Cable

  1. Locate the remote control port on your Sony A6600 camera (refer to your camera's manual if unsure).
  2. Connect one end of the provided shutter signal cable to the battery grip's designated port.
  3. Connect the other end of the shutter signal cable to the camera's remote control port.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Powering On/Off

  1. After attaching the grip and inserting batteries, turn on the 'ON/OFF' switch on the battery grip.
  2. Then, power on your camera as usual.
  3. To power off, turn off the camera first, then the battery grip.

4.2. Vertical Shooting

The ergonomic design of the grip, including an additional shutter button and control dials, allows for comfortable and stable vertical shooting, mimicking the feel of horizontal shooting.

4.3. Using the 2.4GHz Remote Controller

The remote controller operates on a 2.4GHz wireless channel with FSK signal mode, ensuring effective speed, distance, and stability up to approximately 100 meters.

  • Shutter Release: Press the main shutter button on the remote to trigger the camera's shutter. A half-press may activate autofocus, depending on camera settings.
  • Bulb Mode: For long exposure photography, the remote supports Bulb mode. Consult your camera's manual for enabling Bulb mode and the remote's instructions for specific operation.
  • Timer Functions: The remote controller includes timer functions for delayed shooting or interval shooting. Use the 'SET' button and arrow keys to navigate the remote's display and configure desired timer settings (e.g., delay, interval, number of shots).

5. Maintenance

  • Keep the battery grip and remote controller dry. Do not expose them to rain or moisture.
  • Clean the contacts regularly with a dry, soft cloth to ensure good connection.
  • Avoid strong shocks or vibrations.
  • When not in use for extended periods, remove batteries from both the grip and the remote controller to prevent leakage.
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Grip not powering camera: Ensure batteries are correctly inserted and charged. Check the 'ON/OFF' switch on the grip. Verify the grip is securely attached to the camera and the electrical contacts are clean.
  • Remote controller not working: Check AAA battery installation and charge. Ensure the shutter signal cable is properly connected between the grip and the camera. Verify the grip's power is on.
  • Intermittent remote connection: Ensure you are within the 100m operating range. Check for potential sources of 2.4GHz interference.

8. User Tips

  • Always ensure the battery grip's 'ON/OFF' switch is in the 'OFF' position before attaching or detaching it from the camera.
