3. Product Overview

  • **Antenna:** For transmitting and receiving signals.
  • **PTT Button (Push-to-Talk):** Press and hold to transmit, release to listen.
  • **Power Button:** Turns the radio on/off.
  • **Up Button:** Navigates menus or increases values.
  • **Down Button:** Navigates menus or decreases values.
  • **Menu/Lock Button:** Accesses menu settings or locks/unlocks the keypad.
  • **Microphone Speaker:** Integrated unit for voice input and audio output.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

To install or replace the battery:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
  2. Gently slide the cover downwards or press the release tab (if present) to open.
  3. Insert the 1200mAh Li-ion battery into the compartment, ensuring the contacts align correctly.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.

4.2 Charging the Battery

The radio uses a rechargeable 1200mAh Li-ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the battery.

  1. Open the rubber flap covering the Type-C charging port on the top of the radio.
  2. Connect the provided 2-in-1 Micro USB Type-C cable to the radio's charging port.
  3. Connect the other end of the cable to a compatible USB power source (e.g., power adapter, power bank, computer, car charger).
  4. The battery level indicator on the LCD display will show charging status.
  5. Once fully charged, disconnect the cable and close the rubber flap to protect the port.

CAUTION: Use only the specified charger. Do not throw the battery in fire. Do not short circuit. Do not put in wet or corrosive surroundings.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

  • **To Power On:** Press and hold the Power Button until the LCD screen illuminates.
  • **To Power Off:** Press and hold the Power Button until the LCD screen turns off.

5.2 Adjusting Volume

Use the Up and Down buttons to adjust the listening volume. The current volume level will be displayed on the LCD.

5.3 Selecting a Channel

Your radio supports 16 or 22 channels (depending on region, PMR446/FRS). To select a channel:

  1. Press the Menu/Lock button once to enter channel selection mode. The channel number on the LCD will flash.
  2. Use the Up or Down buttons to select your desired channel.
  3. Press the Menu/Lock button again to confirm the selection and exit channel selection mode.

For private conversations, you can also set 121 CTCSS codes. Refer to the full user manual for detailed instructions on setting privacy codes.

5.4 Transmitting and Receiving

  • **To Transmit:** Press and hold the PTT (Push-to-Talk) button. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button when you are finished speaking.
  • **To Receive:** Ensure the PTT button is not pressed. The radio will automatically receive transmissions on the selected channel.

5.5 VOX (Voice Operated Exchange)

VOX allows you to transmit without pressing the PTT button. The radio will automatically transmit when it detects your voice.

  1. Press the Menu/Lock button multiple times until the VOX setting appears on the LCD.
  2. Use the Up or Down buttons to select the desired VOX sensitivity level (e.g., 1-3, with 3 being most sensitive).
  3. Press the Menu/Lock button to confirm and exit.

5.6 Keypad Lock

To prevent accidental changes to settings, you can lock the keypad:

  • **To Lock:** Press and hold the Menu/Lock button until a lock icon appears on the LCD.
  • **To Unlock:** Press and hold the Menu/Lock button again until the lock icon disappears.

5.7 LED Torch

Your radio includes a built-in LED torch for convenience in low-light conditions. Consult the full user manual for specific activation instructions, as this may vary.
