5. Setup

5.1. Charging the Battery

If your package includes a battery and charger, ensure the battery is fully charged before first use. Connect the charger to a power outlet and insert the battery pack. The charger indicator will show the charging status. Refer to the charger's specific instructions for charging times and indicator meanings.

5.2. Installing the Battery Pack

  1. Align the battery pack with the base of the impact driver handle.
  2. Slide the battery pack into the tool until it clicks securely into place.
  3. To remove, press the battery release button(s) and slide the battery out.

5.3. Installing/Removing Bits

The NW-S8240 features a 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) internal hex quick-change collet.

  1. Ensure the tool is off and the forward/reverse switch is in the center (locked) position.
  2. Push the quick-change collet forward to open the chuck.
  3. Insert the desired 1/4 inch hex shank bit fully into the chuck.
  4. Release the quick-change collet. The bit should be held firmly in place. Pull on the bit to ensure it is secure.
  5. To remove a bit, push the quick-change collet forward and pull the bit out.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Powering On/Off

The tool is activated by pressing the trigger switch. The speed is infinitely variable depending on how far the trigger is pressed. Release the trigger to turn the tool off.

6.2. Forward/Reverse Rotation

The forward/reverse switch is located above the trigger. Push the switch to the left for forward rotation (tightening) and to the right for reverse rotation (loosening). The center position locks the trigger for safety during transport or bit changes.

6.3. Speed and Torque Modes

The NW-S8240 features four speed modes and four torque modes, allowing you to adapt the tool to different materials and applications. Use the mode selector button (typically located near the base of the handle) to cycle through the available modes.

  • Speed Modes: 1200 RPM, 1900 RPM, 2500 RPM, 3200 RPM.
  • Torque Modes: 60 N.m, 120 N.m, 180 N.m, 240 N.m.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

Keep the tool's ventilation openings clean to prevent overheating. Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior of the tool. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Never immerse the tool in liquid.

7.2. Battery Care

  • Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Do not store batteries in a discharged state for extended periods.

7.3. Motor Maintenance

The NW-S8240 features a brushless motor, which generally requires less maintenance than brushed motors. No user-serviceable parts are inside the motor housing. Do not attempt to open or repair the motor yourself.

8. Troubleshooting
