1. Introduction

The N Tag is a smart tracker device designed to help you locate your personal items quickly and securely using the Google Find My Device service. It pairs with your Android device to track items on Google Maps, leveraging the network of billions of Android devices worldwide. All location information remains private and is end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that only you can access it.

3. Setup Guide

3.1 Powering On/Off the N Tag

  1. To Turn On: Short press the button once. You will hear a "ring-ring" sound, indicating it is on.
  2. To Confirm On/Working: When the item is on, short press the button twice. It will sound a single "beep", confirming it is working.
  3. To Turn Off: Press the button three times in a row, and hold it for at least three seconds on the third press. It will sound two "beeps", indicating it has been turned off.

3.2 Connecting to Google Find My Device App

  1. Download the App: Go to Google Play and search for 'Find My Device'. Install the app or click 'Update' if already installed.
  2. Open the App: Hit 'Open' or click on the Find My Device app icon on your phone's home page.
  3. Log In: Log in to the Find My Device page using your Google account. If you have multiple accounts, the N Tag will link to the primary account set up on your phone. You may select the "Don't ask again" checkbox for convenience.
  4. Grant Permissions: You might be asked to allow certain permissions. Review the terms and continue to proceed with the setup.

4. Operation

4.1 Locating Your Items

  • Near You: If your lost item is nearby (e.g., within the house), the Find My Device app will show signal strength to help you pinpoint its exact location.
  • Play Sound: If your N Tag is within wireless signal range, select it in the Google Find My Device app and tap "Play Sound". The N Tag will emit a loud ring to help you find it. Once located, tap "Stop Sound" to silence the device.
  • Voice Commands: Use Google Assistant on your Google Home or Pixel Watch with commands like, "Hey Google, find my wallet" or "Hey Google, find my keys" for quick retrieval.

4.2 Worldwide Tracking (Community Finding)

For items lost far away, the Google Find My Device network assists. Billions of Android devices globally work together to help locate your N Tag, even if it's out of your personal Bluetooth range. This network anonymously relays the location of your N Tag to your Find My Device app.

4.3 Enable Lost Mode

If your item is lost, select the device in the Google Find My Device app and tap "Mark as lost". You will receive a notification when its location becomes available. You can also leave your contact information for anyone who finds your item to reach you.

4.4 Location Sharing

To share your N Tag's location, select the device in the Google Find My Device app and tap "Share Device". After the recipient confirms, the N Tag will appear on their Find My Device app list. Both accounts will receive location updates and can ring the device locally.

4.5 Unknown Tracker Alerts

The Find My Device network includes features to prevent unwanted tracking. If your Android phone detects an unfamiliar N Tag moving with you, you will receive a notification. You can then view the unknown device on a map, ring it to identify it by sound, or seek further assistance.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Replacement

The N Tag uses a replaceable CR2032 3V battery. To replace it:

  1. Insert a shell opening tool into the designated opening on the N Tag.
  2. Rotate the tool 90 degrees to gently open the shell.
  3. Use your fingernails at the small gap on the side of the item locator to carefully open the case further.
  4. Replace the old battery with a new CR2032 3V battery, ensuring the positive pole (with text) faces upward.

5.2 Battery Safety Warnings

WARNING:

  • Remove and immediately recycle or dispose of used batteries according to local regulations and keep away from children. Do NOT dispose of batteries in household trash or incinerate.
  • Even used batteries may cause severe injury or death. Call a local poison control center for treatment information.
  • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
  • Do not force discharge, recharge, disassemble, heat above 50°C/122F or incinerate. Doing so may result in injury due to venting, leakage, or explosion, resulting in chemical burns.
  • The compatible battery type is CR2032. The nominal battery voltage is DC 3V.
  • Ensure the batteries are installed correctly according to polarity (+ and -).
  • Do not mix old and new batteries, or different brands or types of batteries (e.g., alkaline, carbon-zinc, or rechargeable batteries).
  • Remove and immediately recycle or dispose of batteries from equipment not used for an extended period of time according to local regulations.
  • Always completely secure the battery compartment. If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product, remove the batteries, and keep them away from children.

6. Privacy

Your location data is end-to-end encrypted, meaning that Google cannot view or access it. Only you can see where your items have been and currently are. With the Find My Device app, Google does not use or share your data. The information you share about yourself and your devices remains confidential.
