1. Product Overview

The EASYGUARD Smart Key Kit (Model: ESW31204-N-BE3) is designed to upgrade your Mercedes-Benz vehicle with advanced passive keyless entry (PKE) and comfort access features. This kit is compatible with Mercedes-Benz C class W206, E class, GLC, and S class W223, EQA, EQB, EQE, EQV, EQS models from 2020 onwards that are equipped with a factory OEM push start button and comfort access system.

The system provides automatic locking/unlocking as you approach or walk away from the vehicle, remote control functions, and enhanced security features.

2. Compatibility and Version Selection

This kit is designed for specific Mercedes-Benz models. It is crucial to select the correct version based on your vehicle's features.

2.1 Vehicle Compatibility

The kit is suitable for Benz C class W206, E class, GLC, and S class W223, EQA, EQB, EQE, EQV, EQS from 2020 onwards with factory OEM keyless go system & comfort access.

2.2 Version Selection Guide

There are three versions of the ESW31204-N series available. Please identify your car's features to choose the correct one:

  • ESW31204-N-PP: For cars without foot kick to open trunk feature.
  • ESW31204-N-C: For cars with foot kick to open trunk feature & normal door handle/comfort access.
  • ESW31204-N-S: For cars with foot kick to open trunk feature & pop out handle feature.

3. Setup and Installation

Important: This product is recommended to be installed by a professional installer only. User manual and wiring diagrams are available upon request. You must perform a new programming after completing the wire connections.

3.1 Key Fob PCB Preparation

One working factory key's PCB is required to be soldered inside the control module. Ensure your car's OEM key fob and PCB match the examples shown below.

3.2 Control Module Placement

The control module should be placed below the driver's seat or under the dashboard panel, near the ignition cylinder. This placement is critical to prevent issues such as the system being "unable to detect the key."

3.3 Wiring Connections

A detailed wiring diagram is essential for proper installation. The kit utilizes a CAN BUS wire connection. Ensure all connections are secure and correctly matched.

3.4 Antenna Installation Positions

Proper placement of the PKE and high-frequency antennas is crucial for optimal performance.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) Function

The PKE function automatically unlocks or locks the car when you approach or walk away with the key fobs within 2-3 meters. This feature can be enabled or disabled.

  • To Enable PKE: Hold the Lock button πŸ”’ + Unlock button πŸ”“ for 5 seconds, then press the Unlock button once to confirm.
  • To Disable PKE: Hold the Lock button πŸ”’ + Trunk Release button πŸš— for 5 seconds.

4.2 Remote Control Functions

The new key fobs provide standard remote control functions similar to your factory key.

  • Lock: Press the Lock button.
  • Unlock: Press the Unlock button.
  • Trunk Release: Press the Trunk Release button.
  • Power Window Up & Down (Optional): This feature is available only if your original car factory key supports it.

The remote working range is approximately 20-30 meters.

4.3 Touch Door Handle Function

The system is compatible with factory OEM or aftermarket comfort access functions, allowing you to lock or unlock the car by touching the door handle.

  • Touch to Lock/Arm: Touch the handle to lock the vehicle.
  • Touch to Unlock/Disarm: Touch the handle to unlock the vehicle.
  • To Enable Touch Door Handle: Hold the Lock button πŸ”’ + Trunk Release button πŸš— for 5 seconds, then press the Unlock button once to confirm.

4.4 High Security Feature

The system incorporates a high-security feature that prevents the car from starting if the key is not detected inside the vehicle.

4.5 Valet Mode

The system includes a valet mode for convenience when the vehicle is being serviced or parked by a valet. Refer to the full user manual for instructions on activating and deactivating valet mode.

5. Remote Control Programming

After installation and wiring, the new key fobs must be programmed to the system.

  1. Keep pressing and holding the white programming switch on the control module and do not release it.
  2. While holding the switch, quickly press the "Lock" button once on the remote you plan to program.
  3. The indicator light on the remote will flash, signifying successful programming.
  4. If programming fails, check if the remote control has batteries or unplug and re-plug the power connector, then try again.
  5. After the remote control is programmed, if the PKE antenna is plugged in and the remote control is nearby, the indicator light will be on for a long time. At this point, the vehicle can be started. If the key is left 5 meters away, the light will turn off and the vehicle cannot be started.

6. Maintenance

The EASYGUARD Smart Key Kit is designed for durability and minimal maintenance. However, regular checks can ensure optimal performance:

  • Key Fob Batteries: Replace key fob batteries as needed. Low battery power can affect remote range and PKE functionality.
  • System Integrity: Avoid exposing the control module and antennas to extreme moisture or physical damage.
  • Professional Inspection: If you experience any persistent issues, it is recommended to have the system inspected by a professional car alarm installer.

7. Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their potential solutions:

  • "Unable to detect the key" error:
    • Ensure the control module is placed correctly, ideally below the driver's seat or under the dashboard near the ignition cylinder.
    • Verify that the key detection antenna is properly installed and not obstructed.
    • Check the key fob battery.
  • Remote control programming failure:
    • Confirm the key fob has a working battery.
    • Unplug and re-plug the power connector to the control module, then retry the programming steps.
    • Ensure the white programming switch is held continuously during the process.
  • PKE (Passive Keyless Entry) not working:
    • Ensure PKE is enabled (refer to Section 4.1).
    • Check the range; the system operates within 2-3 meters.
    • Verify PKE antennas are correctly installed and not damaged.
    • Low key fob battery can affect PKE performance.
