4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Haytrix M5 display, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the display screen. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the acrylic window or housing.
  • Protection: While the display has an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, avoid prolonged exposure to heavy rain or submersion in water.
  • Cable Inspection: Periodically check all cables and connectors for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections. Ensure they are securely plugged in.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the e-bike and display in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Haytrix M5 display, refer to the following common problems and their solutions:

Error Codes:

The display may show error codes to indicate specific issues:

Status CodeState MeaningRemarks
E06Battery under voltageCheck battery charge level.
E07Motor failureInspect motor connections and functionality.
E08Turn malfunctioningCheck throttle/turn signal connections.
E09Controller failureVerify controller connections and status.
E10Communication reception failureCheck data receiving line (Green RX).
E11Communication dispatch failureCheck data transmission line (Yellow TX).

General Troubleshooting Tips:

  • **Display Not Turning On:** Check battery connection and charge. Ensure the power cable is securely connected.
  • **Incorrect Speed Reading:** Verify P06 (Wheel Diameter) and P07 (Magnetic Steel Number) settings are correct for your e-bike.
  • **Functionality Issues:** If the display is not working properly, ensure the communication protocol (UART2) matches your controller. A mismatch can cause abnormal operation.
  • **No Speed Limit (or unexpected limit):** The display itself has no speed limit (set to 100 by default), but your e-bike's controller may enforce a speed limit. The display will reflect the controller's limit.

Compatibility depends on the controller's specific code (e.g., '2HAO'), not just the model.

7. User Tips

  • Protocol Matching: Always double-check that your e-bike controller uses the UART2 protocol. If it doesn't, the display may not function correctly. This is a common reason for compatibility issues.
  • Kill Switch: The Haytrix M5 display includes a 'Kill Switch' feature, which can be useful for quickly cutting power in emergencies.
  • Bafang Motor Compatibility: For Bafang BBS02B mid-drive motors, ensure the controller's protocol matches UART2. The display's functionality is dependent on this protocol, not just the motor model.
  • Speed Limit: Be aware that while the display itself might not have a hard-coded speed limit, your e-bike's controller will likely have one, which the display will reflect.
