2. Safety Information

2.1 Laser Safety

WARNING: Avoid direct exposure of the laser beam to the eyes. The laser emitted by this device is a Class 2 Green Beam (IEC/EN60825-1/2014) with an output power of <1mW. Direct eye exposure can cause temporary or permanent eye damage.

  • Do not stare directly into the laser beam.
  • Do not point the laser beam at people or animals.
  • Do not use optical instruments (e.g., binoculars, telescopes) to view the laser beam.
  • Ensure the device is used in a manner that prevents unintended exposure to the laser beam.

2.2 General Safety

6. Setup

6.1 Charging the Battery

  1. Locate the Type-C charging port on the side of the device.
  2. Open the protective cover of the Type-C port.
  3. Connect the provided Type-C power cable to the device and a suitable USB power adapter (not included).
  4. The battery indicator on the LCD screen will show charging status. A full charge takes approximately 1.5 hours.
  5. Once fully charged, disconnect the cable and close the protective cover to maintain IP54 rating.

6.2 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press the MEAS button once to turn on the device. The laser will activate.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the CLEAR button for approximately 3 seconds to turn off the device. The device will also automatically power off after 180 seconds of inactivity.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Basic Distance Measurement

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Point the laser beam at the target.
  3. Press the MEAS button once. The measured distance will be displayed on the LCD screen.

7.2 Switching Measurement Units

To switch between measurement units (Meters, Inches, Feet, Feet+Inches):

  • Press and hold the Unit button (usually labeled with 'U' or unit symbols) for approximately 2 seconds. The unit will change on the display.

7.3 Using the Electronic Angle Sensor

The built-in electronic angle sensor displays the angle in real-time on the LCD screen. This is useful for leveling and determining inclinations.

  • Place the device on a surface. The angle will be shown on the display.
  • The electronic horizontal bubble provides visual feedback for horizontal alignment.

7.4 Measurement Modes

The device offers 9 different measurement modes. Press the Mode button (often depicted with stacked squares or triangles) to cycle through the available modes:

  1. Single Measurement: Measures a single distance.
  2. Area Measurement: Calculates the area of a surface (length x width).
  3. Volume Measurement: Calculates the volume of a space (length x width x height).
  4. Wall Area Measurement: Measures the total area of multiple walls.
  5. Pythagorean Measurement (1-5): Various indirect measurement functions using the Pythagorean theorem for inaccessible distances.

7.5 Using the Magnetic Back and Tripod Mount

  • Magnetic Back: For stable measurements on metal surfaces, simply attach the device using its strong magnetic back.
  • Tripod Mount: For enhanced stability and precision, especially over longer distances or for angle measurements, attach the device to a standard 1/4"-20 tripod using the integrated mount.

7.6 Using the Target Plate Card

The included Target Plate Card can be used to enhance the visibility of the laser spot, especially in bright conditions or over long distances, and to provide a clear surface for the laser to reflect off.

  • Place the Target Plate Card at the desired measurement point.
  • Aim the laser at the card for improved accuracy and visibility.

8. Maintenance

8.1 Cleaning

  • Regularly clean the device, especially the laser lens and receiver, with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the casing or optical components.
  • For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying.

8.2 Storage

  • When not in use, store the device in its sturdy nylon bag to protect it from dust, dirt, and physical damage.
  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • If storing for an extended period, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) and recharge it every few months to maintain battery health.

  • Efficient Mode Selection: Familiarize yourself with the 9 measurement modes. Switching to the correct mode (e.g., Area, Volume, or Pythagorean) can significantly speed up complex calculations and improve accuracy.
  • Battery Management: The Type-C fast charging is convenient. Keep the device charged, especially before long work sessions, to benefit from the 4-hour continuous runtime.
  • Keep it Clean: Regularly wipe the laser lens and display to prevent dust and debris from affecting measurement accuracy and screen readability.
