1. Introduction
The HYTAIS TS600 is a non-contact infrared thermometer designed for quick and accurate surface temperature measurements. It offers a wide temperature range, fast response time, and adjustable emissivity, making it suitable for various applications from home use to industrial inspections.
This device allows for safe temperature detection without direct contact, which is ideal for measuring high-temperature equipment, hazardous chemicals, or hard-to-reach objects.
Safety Information
- Do not point the laser directly at eyes or indirectly off reflective surfaces.
- Do not use the thermometer near explosive gases, steam, or dust.
- Keep the device away from electromagnetic fields (e.g., arc welders, induction heaters).
- Do not immerse the unit in water.
- This product is suitable for temperature measurement on the surface of opaque objects.
- When measuring, keep the distance from the target within 30cm for optimal accuracy.
- Avoid strong reflection environments, glass, liquid, and other transparent materials, as these can affect measurement accuracy. For such materials, specialized temperature measurement equipment is recommended.

5.4 Emissivity Adjustment
Emissivity (ε) is a measure of an object's ability to emit infrared energy. Different materials have different emissivities. Adjusting the emissivity setting on your thermometer ensures more accurate readings for various surfaces. The TS600 allows adjustment from 0.1 to 1.0.
- Long press the "MODE" button to enter the emissivity setting. The current emissivity value (e.g., "ε=0.95") will flash on the screen.
- Use the Up (▲) and Down (▼) buttons to adjust the emissivity value.
- Press the "MODE" button again to confirm the setting and exit.
Common Emissivity Values:
- Cement: 0.96
- Oil: 0.94
- Wood: 0.94
- Most organic materials, painted or oxidized surfaces: 0.95 (default)

Figure 5.3: Adjustable Emissivity for High Accuracy
5.5 High / Low Temperature Alarm Setting
The thermometer can be set to alert you if the measured temperature exceeds a high threshold or falls below a low threshold.
- Long press the "MODE" button until "Hi" appears on the screen. This is the High Temperature Alarm setting.
- Use the Up (▲) and Down (▼) buttons to set the desired high temperature threshold.
- Press the "MODE" button again to switch to the Low Temperature Alarm setting ("Low" will appear).
- Use the Up (▲) and Down (▼) buttons to set the desired low temperature threshold.
- Press the "MODE" button one more time to exit the alarm settings.
5.6 Distance to Spot Ratio (D:S)
The D:S ratio for the HYTAIS TS600 is 12:1. This means that for every 12 units of distance from the target, the measurement spot diameter is 1 unit. For example, at a distance of 12 inches, the measurement spot will be 1 inch in diameter.
To ensure accurate readings, the target object should be larger than the measurement spot. As the distance to the object increases, the measurement spot size also increases. It is recommended that the target being measured is at least twice the diameter of the thermometer's spot.

|---|---|---|
| Device does not turn on. | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries. | Check battery polarity and replace with fresh 1.5V AAA batteries. |
| Inaccurate temperature readings. | Incorrect emissivity setting; target too small or too far; reflective surface; transparent material being measured. | Adjust emissivity for the specific material. Ensure target is larger than the measurement spot and within optimal distance (D:S ratio). Avoid measuring through glass or liquids. |
| Laser not working. | Laser is turned off. | Short press the "Laser Aiming On/Off" button to activate the laser. |
| Display is dim or flickering. | Low battery power. | Replace batteries. |
8. Maintenance
8.1 Cleaning
- Lens: Use a soft, clean cloth or cotton swab with water or medical alcohol. Wipe gently.
- Casing: Clean the instrument casing with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure the lens is clean and free of dust or debris for accurate measurements.
8.2 Storage
- Store the thermometer in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
- Keep out of reach of children.
9. User Tips
- For best accuracy, always ensure the target object is larger than the measurement spot.
- When measuring liquids, measure the surface of the liquid, not through the liquid itself.
- Be aware of highly reflective surfaces, as they can cause inaccurate readings. Adjust emissivity or use a non-reflective tape if possible.
- The thermometer is designed for surface temperature measurement; it is not intended for measuring internal temperatures of objects or body temperature.
