4.2. App Download and Registration

  1. Download the "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" application from your device's app store (App Store for iOS, Google Play Store for Android). Alternatively, scan the QR code provided in the original PDF manual.
  2. Register for a new account using your email address and log in.

4.3. Connecting to 2.4GHz WiFi (Primary Method)

  1. Ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The sensor does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
  2. Open the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
  3. On the app's home interface, tap the "+" icon (or "Add Device").
  4. Use the provided reset pin to long-press the reset button on the sensor for 3-5 seconds until the indicator light starts flashing rapidly. This puts the device into distribution (pairing) mode.
  5. The app should automatically detect the device. If not, you may need to select "Add Manually" and choose the appropriate sensor type.
  6. Enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network password when prompted and confirm.
  7. Follow any additional on-screen prompts to complete the connection. Once successful, the device will appear in your app.

4.4. Connecting via Zigbee Gateway (Alternative Method)

If you have a Zigbee Gateway and wish to connect the water sensor via Zigbee:

  1. Ensure your Zigbee Gateway is already connected to your Wi-Fi network and added to the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
  2. In the app, navigate to your Zigbee Gateway device.
  3. Tap "Add subdevice".
  4. Long-press the reset button on the water sensor for 5 seconds until the LED indicator flashes rapidly.
  5. The app will search for the device. Once found, follow the prompts to add it.

Note: This method requires a compatible Zigbee Gateway. The water sensor supports both Wi-Fi and Zigbee communication protocols.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Water Leak Detection and Alerts

Once successfully connected, the sensor will continuously monitor for water leaks. When the induction probe detects water, it will trigger an alarm:

  • The sensor's indicator light will turn red.
  • A real-time "Flooding Alarm" notification will be sent to your Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
  • The app will display the status as "Flooding Alarm" or "Normal" depending on the presence of water.

You can view a historical record of all flooding alarms and normal states within the app at any time.

5.2. Smart Linkage Scenarios

The Tuya Smart Life app allows you to create automated scenarios by linking your water leak sensor with other smart devices. This enhances your home security and automation:

  • Washing Machine Area: If water leakage is detected near a washing machine, the sensor can trigger a smart socket to cut off power to the washing machine. If a human interaction sensor is also present, a smart speaker can provide a voice prompt.
  • Kitchen Sink Area: When water leakage is detected near the sink, the sensor can be linked to a smart water valve to automatically shut off the water supply. Voice prompts can also be issued via a smart APP or speaker.
  • Warehouse/Storage: In a warehouse, a water leak can link to a warning device (e.g., siren) and send notifications to your phone, ensuring immediate awareness even if no one is physically present.

5.3. Low Power Alert

The sensor features a low-battery reminder function. When the battery voltage drops below 2.4V, you will receive a notification via the app, prompting you to replace the batteries.

6. Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: When you receive a low-battery alert, replace both AAA 1.5V batteries promptly to ensure continuous protection. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 4.1.
  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the sensor's main unit and the induction probe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Ensure the induction probe is free from dust or debris that could interfere with detection.
  • Placement: Ensure the sensor is placed in an area where water leaks are most likely to occur (e.g., near washing machines, water heaters, sinks, toilets, basements). The induction probe should be positioned directly on the surface where water might accumulate.

7. Troubleshooting

Q: Sensor not connecting to Wi-Fi.
A: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. Check if the sensor is in pairing mode (rapidly flashing indicator light). Verify your Wi-Fi password. Try moving the sensor closer to your Wi-Fi router. If issues persist, try resetting the sensor and repeating the pairing process.
Q: No alerts received when water is detected.
A: Check the sensor's battery level in the app. Ensure the app has notification permissions enabled on your smartphone. Verify the sensor is still connected to Wi-Fi (check its status in the app). Test the sensor by placing its probe in a small amount of water to confirm functionality.
Q: Sensor indicator light is off.
A: This is normal when the sensor is idle and not detecting water or in pairing mode. If it remains off during detection or pairing attempts, check the batteries or try resetting the device.
Q: How to reset the sensor?
A: Use the provided reset pin to long-press the reset button on the sensor for 3-5 seconds until the indicator light flashes rapidly. This will reset the device and put it into pairing mode.

8. User Tips

  • Regularly check the battery status in the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app to ensure continuous operation.
  • Place the sensor in areas prone to water leaks, such as under sinks, near water heaters, dishwashers, washing machines, or in basements.
  • Test the sensor periodically (e.g., monthly) by placing its probe in a small amount of water to ensure it's functioning correctly and sending notifications.
  • Utilize the smart linkage features within the app to create automated responses to water leaks, such as turning off smart plugs or activating alarms.

9. Warranty and Support
