5. Setup Instructions

5.1 Physical Connection

  1. Connect to Ethernet-Enabled Device: Plug one end of the RJ45 Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port of your wired device (e.g., Smart TV, PS4, Xbox, Set Top Box, Printer).
  2. Connect to EDUP 2911S: Plug the other end of the RJ45 Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the EDUP 2911S dongle.
  3. Power the Device: Insert the USB connector of the EDUP 2911S into an available USB port on your device (e.g., TV, computer) or a USB power adapter/power bank. The device will power on automatically.

5.2 Wireless Connection via WPS (Recommended)

The EDUP 2911S supports one-touch WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) for easy and secure connection to your WiFi router.

  1. Ensure your WiFi router supports WPS and that the WPS function is enabled.
  2. Press the WPS button on your WiFi router.
  3. Within two minutes, press the WPS button on the EDUP 2911S dongle.
  4. The device will automatically connect to your router. The indicator light on the dongle will show a stable connection once paired.

Once connected, your Ethernet-enabled device will have wireless access to your network.

6. Operating Instructions

After successful setup, the EDUP 2911S operates automatically. It acts as a bridge, allowing your wired device to communicate wirelessly with your router. No further configuration is typically required for daily use.

  • Indicator Light: Observe the indicator light on the dongle. A steady light usually indicates a successful connection and active operation.
  • Network Access: Your connected Ethernet device should now be able to access the internet and other network resources wirelessly.

7. Maintenance

  • Keep Clean: Regularly wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth to prevent dust accumulation.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the device is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the EDUP official website for any available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power:
    • Ensure the USB connector is fully inserted into a working USB port or power adapter.
    • Try a different USB port or power source.
  • No Wireless Connection:
    • Verify that the Ethernet cable is securely connected between the EDUP 2911S and your wired device.
    • Confirm that your WiFi router is powered on and broadcasting a signal.
    • Attempt the WPS setup process again (Section 5.2).
    • Ensure the EDUP 2911S is within range of your WiFi router.
  • Slow or Intermittent Connection:
    • Relocate the EDUP 2911S closer to your WiFi router to improve signal strength.
    • Check for potential sources of interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones, other 2.4GHz devices).
    • Restart both the EDUP 2911S and your WiFi router.
  • Device Not Recognized:
    • Ensure your wired device's network settings are configured to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).
    • If using a computer, ensure network drivers are up to date.

9. User Tips

  • Optimal Placement: For the best wireless performance, place the EDUP 2911S in a location that has a clear line of sight to your main WiFi router, avoiding obstructions like thick walls or large metal objects.
  • Power Source: While the dongle can be powered by a TV's USB port, using a dedicated USB power adapter (5V/1A) can sometimes provide more stable power, especially if the TV's USB port has limited output.
