4. Setup Instructions
4.1 Pinout Diagram and Description
Refer to the following diagram and table for the module's pin assignments and their functions. Ensure correct wiring to prevent damage to the module or connected devices.

| PIN | PIN Name | I/O | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1PPS | O | 1 Pulse Per Second when 3D fixed |
| 2 | GND | G | Ground |
| 3 | TX | O | Serial Data Output. |
| 4 | RX | I | Serial Data Input. |
| 5 | VCC | I | DC 3.0V - 5.5V supply input, Typical: 5.0V |
| 6 | BOOT | I | N.C. (Not Connected) |
4.2 Electrical Connection
Connect the module to your flight controller or microcontroller using the provided cable and the 1.25mm spacing 6-pin patch seat connector. Ensure the VCC and GND pins are connected to the appropriate power supply (3.6V-5.5V DC, typically 5.0V). The TX and RX pins should be connected to the serial communication pins of your host device, observing the correct cross-connection (module TX to host RX, module RX to host TX).
4.3 Initial Configuration
The module comes with internal FLASH memory, allowing you to customize settings such as baud rate, output frequency, and data protocol (NMEA-0183 or UBX). The default baud rate is 9600bps and the default output frequency is 1Hz. These settings can be configured using appropriate software tools (e.g., U-Center for UBLOX-based modules, if applicable, or specific tools provided by Beitian) and will be saved even after power loss.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On and Satellite Acquisition
Upon powering the module, it will begin searching for satellites. The PPS LED (red) will remain off until a GPS fix is acquired. Once a 3D fix is established, the PPS LED will start flashing, indicating successful positioning.
5.2 Data Output
The module outputs serial data via the TX pin. The TX LED (blue) will flash to indicate active data transmission. The default data protocol is NMEA-0183 at 9600bps and 1Hz update rate. Ensure your receiving device is configured to match these settings or any custom settings you have applied.
5.3 Integration with Flight Controllers (Pixhawk/APM)
For integration with flight controllers like Pixhawk or APM, connect the module's serial pins (TX/RX) to the designated GPS port on your flight controller. Refer to your flight controller's specific documentation for detailed wiring and software configuration steps, including enabling the GPS module and setting the correct baud rate and protocol.
6. Maintenance
- Keep the module clean and free from dust and moisture.
- Avoid exposing the module to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
- Handle the module and its connectors with care to prevent physical damage.
- Ensure the active antenna has a clear view of the sky for optimal performance.
7. Troubleshooting
- No GPS Fix (PPS LED off):
- Ensure the module has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky.
- Verify power supply (VCC) is within the specified range (3.6V-5.5V).
- Allow sufficient time for a cold start (up to 29 seconds).
- No Data Output (TX LED not flashing):
- Check all wiring connections, especially TX and RX.
- Verify the module is powered correctly.
- Ensure the receiving device's serial port is correctly configured (baud rate, protocol).
- Incorrect Data:
- Confirm the baud rate and data protocol settings match between the module and the receiving device.
- Check for electrical noise or interference in the environment.
8. User Tips
- For best performance, mount the GPS module away from other electronic components that might generate electromagnetic interference.
- When integrating with flight controllers, always double-check the pinout and voltage levels to ensure compatibility (TTL vs. RS232).
- Consider using a GPS ground plane if experiencing poor signal reception in specific setups, although the active antenna generally performs well.
- Regularly check for firmware updates for your flight controller or GPS module, as these can sometimes improve performance or add features.
