1. Introduction
The NJTY T03 Series Non-Contact Voltage Tester is a versatile tool designed for electrical professionals and DIY enthusiasts. It safely detects AC voltage without direct contact, identifies live and neutral wires, and helps locate breakpoints in circuits. The series includes two models: the T03A (Basic Version) and the T03B (Voice Broadcast Version), with the T03B offering additional voice prompts for enhanced user experience.

2. Safety Instructions
WARNING: To avoid electric shock or personal injury, please read and understand all safety information before use.
- The presence of voltage may be affected by several factors, including shielded wires/cables, thickness and type of insulation, distance from the voltage source, complete insulation, and differences in receptacle design.
- Do not use the product if it is damaged or not working properly. Before each use, check the tip of the probe for cracks or breaks. If you suspect a problem, discontinue use and seek repair.
- Do not apply more than the rated voltage marked on the stylus. Be cautious when testing voltages exceeding 30VAC, as there is a risk of electric shock.
- Always observe local and national safety codes. Use appropriate protective equipment as specified.
- Before using the stylus on an unknown power source, test it on a known live circuit to ensure it is in proper working condition.
- When using the stylus, voltage may still be present even if there is no display or audible alarm. This stylus indicates a valid voltage when the supply voltage generates an electrostatic field of sufficient strength. If the field is weak, the stylus may not detect the presence of voltage.

5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Ensure the device is powered off.
- Unscrew the battery cap at the top of the tester.
- Insert two (2) 1.5V AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the battery compartment.
- Replace the battery cap and screw it securely.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Power On/Off
Press the power button (POWER) briefly to turn the device on or off. The device will emit a beep (T03B will also announce "Power On" or "Power Off").
6.2 Sensitivity Adjustment
The tester features dual sensitivity modes:
- High Sensitivity (AC 12-1000V): Suitable for detecting lower voltages or when a wider detection range is needed.
- Low Sensitivity (AC 48-1000V): Ideal for higher voltage detection or to reduce false positives in noisy environments.
Press the H/L button to toggle between high and low sensitivity modes. The corresponding indicator light will illuminate.

6.3 Non-Contact Voltage Detection
Hold the tester with the probe tip near the object to be tested (e.g., wire, outlet, circuit breaker). If AC voltage is detected, the tester will emit an audible beep and the LED indicator will flash. The frequency of beeps and flashes, along with the color of the indicator, will vary based on the signal strength:
- Weak Signal: Buzzer rings slowly, yellow indicator light is on.
- Strong Signal: Buzzer sounds quickly, red indicator light is on.

Figure 5: Signal Strength Indication
6.4 Live/Neutral Wire Identification
To distinguish between live and neutral wires:
- Place the probe tip near each wire.
- Observe the indicator lights:
- Yellow light: Indicates a neutral wire (low voltage electric field).
- Red light: Indicates a live wire (high voltage electric field).

Figure 6: Live/Neutral Wire Detection
Note: When distinguishing between neutral and live wires that are close to each other, try to separate them as much as possible. If separation is not feasible, differentiate based on signal strength: a stronger signal indicates the live wire, and a weaker signal indicates the neutral wire.
6.5 Circuit Breakpoint Finder
To locate a break in a wire:
- Ensure the wire is energized.
- Move the probe tip along the wire.
- The tester will indicate voltage up to the point of the break. The alarm will stop or significantly weaken past the breakpoint.

6.6 Flashlight and Laser Pointer
- Flashlight: Briefly press the power button to turn the white LED flashlight on or off.
- Laser Pointer: Long press the power button to activate the laser pointer for precise alignment. Long press again to turn it off.

7. Maintenance
- Keep the device clean and dry. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
- Regularly inspect the probe tip for any signs of damage or wear.
8. Troubleshooting
8.1 False Alarms due to Static Electricity
The tester may occasionally produce brief alarms when placed on a surface, swept through the air, or rubbed against hair or clothing. This is a normal phenomenon caused by static electricity. Any such alarm will typically occur only once or twice at a time and is not indicative of actual voltage presence.
8.2 Alarms from Low Voltage DC or Ungrounded Metal Casings
The tester might alarm when near mobile phone charging lines (which are low voltage DC) or electrical appliances with metal casings (especially if ungrounded). This occurs because switching power supplies or common frequency signals can couple to the wires or casing, creating an electric field detectable by the NCV function. This is considered normal behavior for non-contact voltage testers.

9. User Tips
- Always test the voltage tester on a known live circuit (e.g., a working outlet) before using it on an unknown circuit to confirm its functionality.
- When attempting to distinguish between live and neutral wires that are very close together, try to physically separate them if possible. If not, rely on the strength of the detected signal: a stronger signal typically indicates the live wire.
- Utilize the flashlight feature in dark environments to improve visibility and safety during electrical work.
- Remember that the T03B model provides voice prompts, which can be helpful for hands-free operation or for users who prefer audible feedback.
