Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the radio and all accessories from the packaging. Verify that all components listed in the 'Package Includes' section are present.
  2. Charging the Battery: Before first use, fully charge the built-in 1200mAh rechargeable battery. Connect the provided USB to DC Power Cable to the DC-in 5V port on the back of the radio (refer to Figure 3) and plug the other end into a standard USB power adapter (not included). The low battery/DC connected indicator (1 in Figure 1) will show charging status.
  3. Antenna: Extend the telescopic antenna fully for optimal DAB and FM radio reception.
  4. Power On: Press the 'Standby' button to turn on the radio.
  5. Initial Time/Date Setting: Upon first power-on, you may need to set the date and time. Use the 'Tuner/Snooze/Select' knob and other control buttons as indicated on the display to adjust. The clock can also be set automatically via the DAB+ signal.

Operating Instructions

Mode Selection

  • Press the 'Mode' button to cycle through available modes: DAB, FM, and Bluetooth (BT). The current mode will be indicated on the LED display.

DAB/DAB+ Radio

  1. Select DAB mode using the 'Mode' button.
  2. The radio will automatically scan for available DAB/DAB+ stations upon first use or if no stations are found.
  3. Use the 'Tuner/Snooze/Select' knob to browse through the list of available stations. Press the knob to select a station.
  4. To manually scan, refer to the on-screen menu options.

FM Radio

  1. Select FM mode using the 'Mode' button.
  2. Press and hold the 'Menu/Scan' button to perform an auto-scan for FM stations. The radio will save found stations.
  3. Alternatively, use the 'Tuner/Snooze/Select' knob to manually tune to a frequency.

Presetting Stations

The radio allows you to save up to 5 DAB/FM stations for quick access.

  1. Tune to your desired DAB or FM station.
  2. Press and hold one of the preset buttons (1-5) until the display confirms the station has been saved.
  3. To recall a preset station, simply press the corresponding preset button (1-5).

Volume Control

  • Use the 'Volume +' and 'Volume -' buttons to adjust the audio level.

Standby Mode

  • Press the 'Standby' button to enter a low-power mode where only the clock is displayed. Press it again to resume normal operation.

Alarm Features

The DAB-A5 radio includes two independent alarms with flexible settings.

Setting Alarms (Alarm 1 & Alarm 2)

  1. Press the '1·Alarm·2' button to select either Alarm 1 or Alarm 2.
  2. Use the 'Tuner/Snooze/Select' knob to adjust the alarm time. Press the knob to confirm each digit.
  3. Select the alarm source: DAB, FM, or Buzzer.
  4. Choose the alarm schedule: Once, Weekdays (Monday-Friday), or Daily.
  5. Confirm your settings. The corresponding alarm indicator (3 or 4 in Figure 1) will light up when an alarm is active.

Snooze Function

  • When an alarm sounds, press the 'Tuner/Snooze/Select' knob to activate the snooze function. The alarm will temporarily pause and sound again after a short interval.

Sleep Timer

  • Press the 'Sleep' button to set a sleep timer (15-90 minutes). The radio will automatically turn off after the selected duration.

Bluetooth Pairing

Connect your smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled devices to stream audio wirelessly.

  1. Select Bluetooth mode using the 'Mode' button. The Bluetooth mode indicator (7 in Figure 1) will light up, and the display will show 'BT' or a pairing message.
  2. On your smartphone or device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select 'DAB-A5' from the list of devices.
  4. Once connected, the radio will confirm the pairing, and you can now stream audio from your device.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Recharge the radio when the low battery indicator appears. If storing for an extended period, charge the battery to about 50% and recharge every few months.
  • Environment: Keep the radio away from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and moisture.
  • Chemicals: This product does not contain high-concerned chemicals, ensuring safe handling.

Troubleshooting

  • No Power/Display: Ensure the radio is charged or connected to a 5V DC power source. Check the USB cable connection.
  • Poor Radio Reception (DAB/FM): Fully extend the telescopic antenna. Try repositioning the radio to a location with better signal strength. Perform an auto-scan to refresh the station list.
  • Bluetooth Pairing Issues: Ensure the radio is in Bluetooth mode. Make sure your device's Bluetooth is enabled and within range. Forget the device on your smartphone and try pairing again.
  • Alarm Not Sounding: Verify that the alarm is enabled and correctly set for time, source, and schedule. Check the volume level.
  • Display Brightness: Adjust the screen brightness using the dedicated settings, which offer 3 levels.

User Tips

  • Automatic Clock Setting: For convenience, the clock can be set automatically via the DAB+ signal, ensuring accurate time display without manual adjustment.
  • USB Charging Output: The USB port on the back of the radio can be used to provide power to other small devices, making it a handy charging station in a pinch.
