6. Operating Instructions

Once the adapter and charging cable are securely connected as described in the Setup section:

  1. Ensure your EV is ready to receive a charge (e.g., ignition off, charging port door open).
  2. The EV will typically communicate with the charging cable and adapter to initiate the charging process.
  3. Monitor your EV's dashboard or charging indicator for confirmation that charging is active.
  4. To stop charging, follow your EV's specific instructions, which usually involve unlocking the charging port and then disconnecting the charging cable from the EV.
  5. After disconnecting from the EV, disconnect the EV charging cable from the IPENGEN adapter.
  6. Finally, unplug the IPENGEN adapter from the wall power outlet.

Note: The adapter itself does not control the charging process; it merely provides the physical connection. The EV and the charging cable manage the power flow and safety protocols.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the adapter with a dry, clean cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the adapter is unplugged before cleaning.
  • Storage: Store the adapter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the adapter for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion, especially on the plugs and sockets.
  • Cable Care: Avoid bending or kinking the cable sharply. Do not drive over the cable.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
EV not chargingLoose connection; Power outlet issue; EV charging cable fault; Adapter damage.
  • Ensure all connections (wall to adapter, adapter to EV cable, EV cable to EV) are secure.
  • Check if the wall outlet is functional by plugging in another appliance.
  • Test with a different EV charging cable if available.
  • Inspect the adapter for visible damage. If damaged, discontinue use.
Adapter feels hotOverload; Poor connection; Environmental factors.
  • Ensure the power drawn by the EV does not exceed the adapter's 16A/3.5KW rating.
  • Verify connections are tight to prevent resistance heating.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the adapter. If overheating persists, discontinue use immediately.
Flickering power/tripped breakerOvercurrent; Faulty wiring.
  • Ensure the circuit can handle the 16A load. Avoid using other high-power appliances on the same circuit.
  • Consult a qualified electrician to inspect the wiring if issues persist.

9. User Tips

  • Always use the correct regional adapter for your specific country's power outlet.
  • For optimal charging, ensure the power outlet is a dedicated circuit or can handle the continuous 16A load without issues.
  • Consider using a wall-mounted holder or hook to keep the adapter and cable off the ground when not in use, preventing damage and tripping hazards.
  • If you frequently travel, having multiple regional adapters can be very convenient for charging your EV wherever you go.
