2. Setup and Assembly

The ZD850 PRO is provided as a frame kit and requires assembly. No assembly tools are included with the kit. You will need the following tools (not included):

  • 2.5mm hex wrench or screwdriver
  • 2.0mm hex wrench or screwdriver
  • 5.5mm sleeve
  • A complete set of screwdriver tools is recommended for convenience.

Follow the visual guides provided by the images to correctly assemble the carbon fiber components, including the center plates, arms, and landing gear. Ensure all connections are secure and tightened appropriately.

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and safe operation of your ZD850 PRO frame kit, regular maintenance is recommended:

  • Inspect all screws and fasteners: Before and after each flight, check that all screws, especially those on the arm folding mechanisms and motor mounts, are tight and secure.
  • Examine carbon fiber components: Look for any signs of cracks, delamination, or damage to the carbon fiber arms, plates, and landing gear. Replace damaged parts immediately.
  • Clean the frame: Keep the frame free from dirt, dust, and debris, which can accumulate in joints and affect performance. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Check landing gear: Ensure the landing gear tubes and connections are intact and can withstand landing forces. The plastic tripod connections are designed to bear over 50kg, but visual inspection is still important.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues during or after assembly, consider the following:

  • Unstable flight characteristics: Double-check all arm connections and ensure they are perfectly aligned and tightened. Verify that the flight controller is correctly mounted and calibrated. The PRO version's design aims for better stability, so ensure proper assembly to leverage this.
  • Loose components: If any part feels loose, re-examine the assembly steps for that specific component. Ensure the correct tools were used and fasteners are adequately tightened without over-tightening, which could strip threads or damage carbon fiber.
  • Difficulty folding/unfolding arms: Check the aluminum folding pieces and nylon clamps for any obstructions or misalignment. Lubricate moving parts sparingly if necessary, ensuring no excess lubricant interferes with electrical components.

8. User Tips

  • Pre-assembly check: Before starting assembly, lay out all components and verify that all parts are present and undamaged.
  • Thread-locking compound: For critical fasteners, especially those on motor mounts and arm connections, consider using a removable thread-locking compound (e.g., blue Loctite) to prevent screws from vibrating loose during flight.
  • Cable management: Plan your wiring carefully during assembly to ensure clean cable routing, which helps prevent interference and makes future maintenance easier.
