5. Setup

5.1 Charging the Device

Before initial use, fully charge the ST-6986. Connect the provided power adapter to the DC IN port on the device and plug it into a standard electrical outlet. The charging indicator will show the charging status. A full charge ensures maximum operating time.

5.2 Connecting to Signal Sources

  • Satellite (DVB-S/S2): Connect the LNB cable from your satellite dish to the 'ANT' (LNB IN) port on the rear panel.
  • Terrestrial/Cable (DVB-T/T2/C): Connect the antenna or cable TV signal to the 'RF IN' port on the rear panel.

5.3 Connecting to External Displays/Sources

  • HDMI Output: Use an HDMI cable to connect the 'HDMI OUT' port to an external monitor or TV for a larger display.
  • AV Output: Use the provided AV cable to connect the 'AV OUT' port to an older TV or monitor.
  • HDMI Input: Connect an external HDMI source (e.g., a media player) to the 'HDMI IN' port to display its content on the ST-6986 screen.
  • AV Input: Connect an external AV source to the 'AV IN' port.

5.4 USB Connection

The 'USB' port can be used for software upgrades or for connecting external storage devices to manage media files.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Navigation

  • Power Button: Press and hold to turn the device ON/OFF.
  • MENU: Access the main menu.
  • OK: Confirm selections or enter sub-menus.
  • EXIT: Go back to the previous screen or exit a menu.

  • Constellation Analyzer: Analyze the signal constellation diagram for detailed insight into signal integrity and modulation errors.
  • Search Modes: Supports Auto Scan, Blind Scan, Manual Scan, and NIT (Network Information Table) scan for comprehensive channel detection.
  • DiSEqC Control: Configure DiSEqC 1.0/1.1/1.2, Unicable, and 0/22KHz Tone settings for multi-LNB systems.
  • AZ, EL Angle Calculation: Automatically calculate Azimuth and Elevation angles to assist in dish alignment.
  • Sound and Light Alarm: Provides audible and visual feedback when a signal is locked, simplifying the alignment process.

7. Maintenance
