5. Setup and Installation
Before installation, ensure your door meets the following requirements:
- Door Thickness: 35-55mm
- Mortise Type: Compatible with 5050 mortise (22*160mm dimensions).

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Unlocking Methods
The WAFU X8 smart lock offers six convenient ways to unlock your door:

- Fingerprint: Place your registered finger on the fingerprint reader. The lock supports up to 100 unique fingerprints.

- IC Card: Tap your registered IC card on the designated card area. The lock supports up to 100 IC cards.

- Mobile App (Tuya Smart App): Unlock remotely via the Tuya Smart App after pairing the lock with your smartphone.
- Temporary Password: Generate time-limited or one-time passwords through the Tuya Smart App for guests or service personnel.

6.2 Phantom Password
To enhance security, you can enter random digits before or after your correct password. This feature prevents others from easily guessing your password by observing your finger movements.

6.3 Passage Mode
Activate Passage Mode when you need the door to remain unlocked for frequent entry and exit, such as during a party or when moving items. In this mode, any registered fingerprint can open the lock without requiring a specific code or card.

6.4 Cat Eye Camera and Doorbell Functionality
The integrated HD camera provides a 120° ultra-wide monitoring range. When a visitor presses the doorbell, the camera automatically captures a photo and sends it to your Tuya Smart App, allowing you to view the visitor and remotely unlock the door if desired.


6.5 Security Features
- Wrong-Try Lockout: If continuous incorrect unlocking attempts are made, the system will lock for 5 minutes. During this time, the cat-eye camera automatically snaps photos and sends them to your app, alerting you to potential unauthorized access.

- Electromagnetic Interference Shielding: The lock is designed to prevent unlocking by external electromagnetic devices (often referred to as 'black box' attacks).

6.6 Emergency Power Supply
In case the batteries run out, you can still open the lock using the mechanical key or by connecting an external power source via the Type-C port for emergency power.

6.7 Battery Installation and Low Power Reminder
The lock is powered by 4 AA batteries. When the batteries are low, the lock will provide an audible alert when opening, indicating it's time to replace them.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the lock surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that may damage the finish or electronic components.
- Battery Replacement: Replace all 4 AA batteries when the low power reminder activates. Use high-quality alkaline batteries for optimal performance.
- Keypad and Fingerprint Sensor: Keep the keypad and fingerprint sensor clean and free from dirt or moisture to ensure accurate readings.
- Mechanical Parts: Periodically check the handles and mortise for smooth operation. Do not lubricate with oil-based products unless specifically recommended by the manufacturer.
8. Troubleshooting
- Lock not responding: Check battery levels. If low, replace batteries or use emergency Type-C power.
- Fingerprint not recognized: Ensure your finger is clean and dry. Re-register your fingerprint if issues persist.
- Password not working: Verify the correct password is being entered. Check if Phantom Password is being used correctly.
- App connectivity issues: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is stable and the lock is within range. Restart the app and the lock if necessary.
- Doorbell not sending notifications: Check app permissions for notifications and ensure the lock is connected to Wi-Fi.
