4.5 Indirect Measurement (Pythagorean Theorem)
4.5.1 Single Pythagorean Measurement (Height)
- Press the Function Selection key (3) thrice to display the Pythagorean icon.
- Press the MEAS key (4) to measure the length of the first right-angle side when its indicator is flickering.
- Press the MEAS key (4) again to measure the length of the hypotenuse when its indicator is flickering.
- The length of the other right-angle side (height) will be automatically calculated and displayed.
4.5.2 Quadratic Pythagorean Measurement (Partial Height/Length)
- Press the Function Selection key (3) four times to display the Quadratic Pythagorean icon.
- Follow the flickering sequence to measure the lengths of the required sides (e.g., hypotenuse 1, hypotenuse 2, horizontal distance).
- The length of the section (l) will be automatically calculated and displayed.

5. Maintenance
- Keep the device clean and dry. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Regularly clean the laser lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure accurate measurements.
- Store the device in its protective storage bag when not in use to prevent dust and damage.
- Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent battery leakage.
- Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
6. Troubleshooting
If the device is not functioning as expected, please check the following:
- No Power: Ensure batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
- Inaccurate Measurements:
- Check if the laser lens is clean.
- Ensure the measurement surface is reflective enough for the laser.
- Verify the correct measurement baseline (front/back benchmark) is selected.
- Perform self-calibration if available (refer to specific model instructions if applicable, not detailed in provided data).
- Display Issues: If the display is dim or flickering, replace the batteries.
- Device Shutdowns: The device has an automatic shutdown feature after 2 minutes of inactivity. If it shuts down unexpectedly during use, ensure batteries are not low.
