1. Product Overview

The ANENG G120 is a smart, high-precision laser rangefinder designed for accurate distance, area, and volume measurements. It features self-calibration, data storage, and various measurement functions suitable for engineering surveys, interior decoration, and house acceptance tasks.

2. Device Layout and Key Functions

3. Setup and Initial Use

3.1 Battery Installation

The device requires 2 AAA batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device and insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the cover securely.

3.2 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press the MEAS key (4) to start the instrument and activate the laser. The instrument enters test mode.
  • Power Off: Long press the OFF/CLEAR key (7) to shut down the instrument. The instrument will also shut down automatically after 2 minutes of inactivity.

3.3 Unit Switching

Long press the Unit key (6) to cycle through measurement units: meters (m), inches (in), and feet (ft).

3.4 Baseline Settings

Press the Reference/Unit Switching key (6) to select the measuring basis side. The default basis side is the bottom of the instrument (post benchmark). You can switch between front benchmark and post benchmark.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Measurement (Single Distance)

  1. Press the MEAS key (4) to activate the laser.
  2. Aim the laser dot at the target point.
  3. Press the MEAS key (4) again for a single measurement. The result will be displayed in the main display area.

4.2 Continuous Measurement

  1. Long press the MEAS key (4) to enter continuous measurement mode.
  2. The screen will continuously display the measured maximum and minimum values as you move the device.
  3. Short press the MEAS key (4) to exit continuous measurement mode.

Note: Continuous measurement is useful for accurately positioning the longest and shortest sides during area, volume, and Pythagorean measurements.

4.3 Area Measurement

  1. Press the Function Selection key (3) once to display the Area icon.
  2. Press the MEAS key (4) to measure the first side (length) when its indicator is flickering.
  3. Press the MEAS key (4) again to measure the second side (width) when its indicator is flickering.
  4. The area will be automatically calculated and displayed in the main display area.

4.4 Volume Measurement

  1. Press the Function Selection key (3) twice to display the Volume icon.
  2. Press the MEAS key (4) to measure the first side (length) when its indicator is flickering.
  3. Press the MEAS key (4) again to measure the second side (width) when its indicator is flickering.
  4. Press the MEAS key (4) a third time to measure the third side (height) when its indicator is flickering.
  5. The volume will be automatically calculated and displayed in the main display area.

4.5 Indirect Measurement (Pythagorean Theorem)

4.5.1 Single Pythagorean Measurement (Height)

  1. Press the Function Selection key (3) thrice to display the Pythagorean icon.
  2. Press the MEAS key (4) to measure the length of the first right-angle side when its indicator is flickering.
  3. Press the MEAS key (4) again to measure the length of the hypotenuse when its indicator is flickering.
  4. The length of the other right-angle side (height) will be automatically calculated and displayed.

4.5.2 Quadratic Pythagorean Measurement (Partial Height/Length)

  1. Press the Function Selection key (3) four times to display the Quadratic Pythagorean icon.
  2. Follow the flickering sequence to measure the lengths of the required sides (e.g., hypotenuse 1, hypotenuse 2, horizontal distance).
  3. The length of the section (l) will be automatically calculated and displayed.

4.6 Addition and Subtraction Function

  • After a measurement, press the +/- key (5) once. The current measurement result will be added to the previous one.
  • Press the +/- key (5) twice. The current measurement result will be subtracted from the previous one.

4.7 Data Storage and Recall

  • The device can store up to 30 groups of historical measurement data.
  • Press the Storage key (8) to enter memory mode.
  • Use the +/- keys (5) to navigate and select previously measured data.

4.8 Clearing Data

Press the OFF/CLEAR key (7) once to clear the current measured data from the display.

5. Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean and dry. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Regularly clean the laser lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Store the device in its protective storage bag when not in use to prevent dust and damage.
  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent battery leakage.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.

6. Troubleshooting

If the device is not functioning as expected, please check the following:

  • No Power: Ensure batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
  • Inaccurate Measurements:
    • Check if the laser lens is clean.
    • Ensure the measurement surface is reflective enough for the laser.
    • Verify the correct measurement baseline (front/back benchmark) is selected.
    • Perform self-calibration if available (refer to specific model instructions if applicable, not detailed in provided data).
  • Display Issues: If the display is dim or flickering, replace the batteries.
  • Device Shutdowns: The device has an automatic shutdown feature after 2 minutes of inactivity. If it shuts down unexpectedly during use, ensure batteries are not low.
