5. Setup and Installation
The installation involves two main parts: installing the DAB antenna and connecting the DAB+ Receiver Box to your Android car radio.
5.1. DAB Antenna Installation
Proper antenna installation is critical for optimal DAB signal reception. Follow these steps carefully:
- **Prepare the Installation Area:** Disassemble the plastic border of the right window (A-pillar trim) to access the car's metal frame.
- **Prepare the Antenna:** Remove the protective paper from the black film and the transparent film on the antenna.
- **Attach the Antenna:** Stick the black film on the metal frame and the transparent film on the glass. Remember to leave space for putting the plastic border back. Ensure the copper foil part of the antenna is affixed to the iron sheet of the A-pillar for best effect.
- **Secure the Cable:** Tighten the black film and transparent film, and fix the antenna cable securely. Route the wire to a storage tank or other hidden area to conceal it.
- **Reassemble:** Carefully put the plastic border back. Be careful not to break or pinch the antenna cable.
5.2. DAB Box Connection
- Connect the DAB antenna cable to the MCX antenna port on the DAB+ Receiver Box.
- Connect the USB cable to the MicroUSB power port on the DAB+ Receiver Box.
- Plug the other end of the USB cable into an available USB port on your Android car radio system.
6. Operating Instructions
To use the ESSGOO DAB+ Adapter, your Android car radio must have a compatible DAB+ application installed. If not already installed, you must install the provided APK.
- **Install the Application (APK):** Ensure the dedicated DAB+ application (APK) is installed on your Android car radio. This is a prerequisite for the device to function.
- **Launch the Application:** Once the DAB+ Receiver Box is connected via USB, launch the DAB+ application on your car radio.
- **Automatic Scan:** The application should offer an automatic scan function to find available DAB+ stations within the 174~240MHz frequency range.
