Maintenance

Proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ABKO K480 keyboard.

Cleaning the Keyboard

  • General Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe down the keycaps and keyboard surface. Avoid excessive moisture.
  • Dust Removal: Use compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the keycaps and switches.
  • Deep Cleaning: For a more thorough clean, you can remove the keycaps.

Keycap and Switch Replacement (Hot-Swappable Feature)

The ABKO K480 features hot-swappable switches, allowing you to easily change switches without soldering. It also comes with PBT keycaps, known for their durability and resistance to shine.

  1. Removing Keycaps:
    • Use the provided keycap puller.
    • Gently hook the puller onto the keycap and pull straight up to remove it.
  2. Removing Switches:
    • After removing the keycap, use the provided switch puller.
    • Align the prongs of the switch puller with the clips on the top and bottom of the switch.
    • Squeeze the clips and gently pull the switch straight up.
  3. Installing Switches:
    • Ensure the new switch's pins are straight.
    • Align the pins with the holes on the PCB (Printed Circuit Board).
    • Gently push the switch straight down until it clicks into place. Do not force it. If resistance is met, remove and check the pins for bending.
  4. Installing Keycaps:
    • Align the keycap with the stem of the switch.
    • Gently push down until the keycap is securely seated.

Caution: Always handle switches and keycaps with care to avoid damaging the pins or the keyboard's PCB.
