Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your heater:

  • Unplug Before Maintenance: Always unplug the heater from the power outlet before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the heater's surface to remove algae or mineral buildup. Use a soft brush or cloth and aquarium-safe cleaning solutions if necessary. Do not use harsh chemicals.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord and the heater body for any signs of damage, cracks, or wear. If any damage is found, discontinue use immediately and replace the heater.
  • Water Level: Ensure the heater remains fully submerged at all times during operation.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your heater, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Heater Not Turning On:
    • Check if the power plug is securely inserted into the outlet.
    • Verify that the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
    • Ensure the heater is fully submerged in water. The safety feature prevents operation when dry.
  • Incorrect Temperature Reading:
    • Ensure the heater's sensor is clean and free from debris.
    • Compare the heater's reading with a separate, reliable aquarium thermometer. If there's a significant discrepancy, the heater's sensor might be faulty.
  • Water Temperature Not Reaching Set Point:
    • Check if the heater's wattage is appropriate for your tank size (refer to Table 1). An underpowered heater may struggle to heat a large tank.
    • Ensure good water circulation around the heater.
    • Verify the set temperature on the external controller is correct.
  • Heater Overheating:
    • Immediately unplug the heater.
    • Check if the heater is fully submerged.
    • Ensure the external controller is functioning correctly and not stuck at a high setting.

If problems persist after troubleshooting, please contact customer support.

7. User Tips

  • Verify Plug Type: Before purchasing or using, always confirm that the heater comes with the correct plug adapter (EU, UK, AU, etc.) for your region to ensure compatibility and safe operation.
  • Monitor Water Temperature: While the heater has a digital display, it's always a good practice to use an independent aquarium thermometer to cross-reference the water temperature, especially during initial setup.
  • Gradual Temperature Changes: When adjusting the temperature, make gradual changes to avoid shocking your aquatic inhabitants.

The SUNSUN GR Series Aquarium Submersible Heater comes with a one-year warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects.

For warranty claims, technical support, or any product-related inquiries, please contact the seller or manufacturer directly. Keep your proof of purchase for warranty validation.
