6.2 Basic Engraving/Cutting Process

  1. Prepare Material: Place your chosen material on the engraving platform. Ensure it is flat and stable. For cylindrical objects, use the rotation axis.
  2. Connect Device: Connect the DJ6 Pro to your computer or mobile device via USB or Bluetooth.
  3. Launch Software: Open the LightBurn software on your computer or the DAJA app on your mobile device.
  4. Import/Create Design: Import your desired image (Text, Vector, Photo, Base Graphs) or create a new design within the software.
  5. Adjust Parameters: Set the engraving/cutting parameters (speed, power, passes) according to your material and desired effect. Refer to the software's documentation for detailed parameter guidance.
  6. Position Object: Use the software's preview function to ensure your design is correctly positioned on the material.
  7. Start Engraving/Cutting: Close the safety cover, wear your safety goggles, and click "Start" in the software. The machine will begin the process.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your DJ6 Pro.

  • Cleaning:
    • Periodically clean the engraving platform and the interior of the machine to remove dust and debris.
    • Use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
    • Ensure the laser lens is clean and free of smudges. Use a lens cleaning cloth and solution specifically designed for optical lenses.
  • Laser Module Replacement: The laser modules are replaceable. If you notice a decrease in performance or wish to use a different laser type (e.g., infrared for metals), you can easily swap the modules as described in Section 5.2.
  • Airflow System: The built-in fan helps promote air circulation and prevent smoke and dust accumulation. Ensure the fan vents are not obstructed.

8. Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Machine not powering on.Power cable loose, power adapter faulty, power outlet issue.Check all power connections. Try a different outlet. Ensure the power adapter is working.
Laser not firing or weak engraving.Incorrect laser module installed for material, laser lens dirty, incorrect power settings, laser module faulty.Ensure the correct laser module is installed for your material (e.g., infrared for metals). Clean the laser lens. Adjust power settings in software. If issue persists, contact support.
Engraving is blurry or inaccurate.Material not flat, machine unstable, incorrect focus, high engraving speed.Ensure material is flat and secure. Place machine on a stable surface. Adjust focus. Reduce engraving speed.
Software not connecting to machine.USB cable faulty, Bluetooth not paired, software driver issue.Try a different USB port/cable. Re-pair Bluetooth. Reinstall software drivers. Restart both machine and device.
Smoke/fumes are excessive.Poor ventilation, smoke evacuator not used/faulty.Ensure adequate ventilation. Use the smoke evacuator if available and ensure it's functioning correctly.

9. User Tips

  • Metal Engraving: For engraving on metal materials like stainless steel or silver medals, ensure you are using the 1064nm Infrared Laser module. The blue light laser is generally not effective on bare metals.
  • Software Choice: The DAJA app is user-friendly for quick designs, while LightBurn offers more advanced features and control for intricate projects. Experiment with both to find what suits your workflow.
  • Test Engravings: Always perform small test engravings on scrap material before starting your main project, especially when working with new materials or settings. This helps fine-tune parameters for the best results.
  • Material Preparation: For materials like glass or white fabric, applying a layer of color paper or painting the surface black can significantly improve engraving visibility and quality with the blue light laser.
  • Creative Potential: Explore the machine's capabilities with various materials and accessories like the rotation axis for cylindrical objects to unlock its full creative potential.

10. Warranty and Support
