Important: This display is only compatible with controllers using the UART No.2 protocol. It is not compatible with other UART protocols (e.g., Bafang, KDS) or CAN protocols.

To determine if your e-bike is compatible:

  • Consult the user manual or technical documentation provided by your e-bike or controller manufacturer.
  • Check your e-bike's existing display to see which communication protocol it uses.
  • Contact the manufacturer of your e-bike or controller for details about the communication protocols.

General Care:

  • Clean the display regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the screen or casing.
  • Ensure all connections are secure and free from corrosion.
  • Avoid exposing the display to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Displaying E10 Error

If the instrument interface displays an "E10" error, it typically indicates a communication issue. Possible causes include:

  • Communication Protocol Mismatch: The communication protocol used by the display and your e-bike's controller do not match. This display requires the UART No.2 protocol.
  • Faulty Components: One or more components (e.g., booster, rotary knob, motor) in your e-bike system may be malfunctioning or have a short circuit. This can prevent the controller from operating correctly and disrupt communication with the display.

Resolution:

  • Verify the communication protocol of your controller. If it's not UART No.2, the display is incompatible.
  • Inspect the wiring and connections for any loose or damaged parts.
  • If the issue persists, consult a qualified e-bike technician to diagnose potential faults in other e-bike components.

6.2 Speed Limit Issues

If you experience unexpected speed limitations:

  • The default speed setting on the M5C-2 display is unlimited (100).
  • If your e-bike's controller has a built-in speed limit, the display can only show and operate up to that limit, regardless of the display's settings.
  • Some specialized versions of the display may support an immediate 25 km/h speed limit, but the regular version does not.

Resolution:

  • Check your controller's specifications for any inherent speed limits.
  • Adjust the speed setting on the display as described in Section 4.2. If the controller limits the speed, changing the display setting will not override it.
