5. Setup Instructions

  1. Connect the Hub to Your Host Device: Plug the integrated USB-C cable of the RSHTECH hub into an available USB-C port on your laptop, MacBook, or compatible device.
  2. Connect Power (Optional but Recommended): For optimal performance and to charge your host device, connect a USB-C power adapter (up to 100W) to the PD port on the hub.
  3. Connect Peripherals:
    • Displays: Connect your HDMI monitors to the 8K or 4K HDMI ports.
    • USB Devices: Plug in USB flash drives, external hard drives, keyboards, mice, or other USB peripherals into the USB-A (3.2/3.0) or USB-C data ports.
    • Network: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router/modem to the RJ45 port for a stable wired network connection.
    • Memory Cards: Insert SD or TF cards into the respective card reader slots.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Display Modes

The hub supports various display configurations depending on your operating system:

  • Windows: Supports both Extended Mode (up to three external displays, A+B+C) and Mirror Mode (A+A).
  • Mac OS: Supports Single Stream Transport (SST) instead of Multi-Stream Transport (MST). This means Mac OS typically supports Mirror Mode for multiple external displays.

Supported resolutions include Dual 4K@60Hz and Single 8K@30Hz. The hub also supports 4K@120Hz, HDR10, and HDCP2.3.

8. Troubleshooting

No display output:
Ensure the HDMI cables are securely connected to both the hub and the monitor. Check your computer's display settings to ensure the external monitor is detected and configured correctly. Verify that your host device's USB-C port supports video output (DisplayPort Alternate Mode).
USB devices not recognized or slow data transfer:
Ensure the USB devices are properly plugged in. Try connecting the hub to a different USB-C port on your host device. If connecting high-power devices, ensure the hub is connected to an external power source via the PD port. Some devices may require direct connection to the host for full speed.
Laptop not charging via PD port:
Verify that your USB-C power adapter is connected to the hub's PD port and is functioning correctly. Ensure your laptop supports charging via its USB-C port. Check the power output of your adapter; it should be sufficient for both the hub and your laptop.
No Ethernet connection:
Check if the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the hub and your router/modem. Verify network settings on your computer. Try restarting your router/modem and your computer.
Hub feels warm during use:
It is normal for the hub to generate some heat during operation, especially when multiple ports are in use or when charging. The aluminum alloy shell is designed for efficient heat dissipation. Ensure adequate ventilation around the hub.
